The Orville season 3 - first look

I'm a 58-year-old straight white male, and I don't feel alienated or excluded from Discovery's hypothetical demographic.

Right, I understand. What I meant was that I've come to realize, it's not really a personal preference of mine anymore. I've more or less moved on. Again, personal preferences. It's not something I feel is a particular must-watch anymore.

Yeah, exactly. I think there comes a point for everyone where something has stopped being as important to them as it was in the past. I feel that's natural as time goes on. Our interests have an ebb and flow. My statement on demographics was purely a personal one, but I apologize if it sounded like I was singling out anyone. Afterall, tastes change, trends change, and it's impossible please everybody. I'm just accepting the fact that I've changed.

So many fantastic shots of people running past windows. I mean seriously, it looks great. The new version of the theme's nice as well.

I'm bummed about the delay but considering Treks schedule maybe this is a good thing. Now Orville can premiere when there is only 1 Trek series running, I have a little longer to rewatch the show because it's been a few years and that sneak peak looked cool, especially the new opening.

It looks like a weird flashback to the big battle in "Identity, Part I" - the fact that it's both near Earth and the Krill are involved makes it a little less likely to be a later engagement.

So, hoping the opening doesn't turn out to be a cheat, some post-traumatic nightmare, but it's hard to say what else it would be.

I was wondering if it is a battle that happened recently which explains why the ship's bridge and stuff now looks different. They had to fix the ship up and maybe upgrade it. Perhaps war is close to happening as well and maybe things are slightly different because the timeline is slightly different after the season final in season 2.

Yeah, that 100% looks like a nightmare, but is it really a cheat when it's probably setting up the story?

I guess I can trust these people by now to make the scene worthwhile. These kids may have some PTSD, not to mention continuing trust issues where their ol' plastic pal is concerned.

Has their CGI gotten an upgrade? It's never looked bad, but I don't remember it looking this good.
Is all of the textured stuff on the outside of the Orville new? I thought it was all smooth before.
The scene definitely seemed to be a nightmare Marcus Finn was having.

Yeah, the show's undergone a visual upgrade across the board.

It's not clear that there will be more of the show after the third season. It's also not clear that it's ending. But someone has invested a lot of new money in it, for a show they have no plan to continue.

agreed on all accounts. The FX and the background music in the battle is very star warshy, I also like the more elaborate arrangement of the theme.

The ship already looks upgraded in that clip, all the corridors have new walls. They look great by the way, and so does the new Isaac suit.
If it’s a dream it can be set during that battle while also having the new look, no problem.

If they want to do any more seasons, why the further delay?
