THE ORVILLE S2, E13: "TOMORROW, AND TOMORROW, AND TOMORROW"

Why would they? Most people have never seen him.

I guess it depends on the demographic. I wouldn't think the older crowd would actually know who Seth McFarlene was, for instance. He's mainly known for his animated shows, but that's the teenage demographic. I do understand where @Finn is coming from considering Seth is a bigger celebrity outside of his roles (Like appearances at late night shows or award shows).

I'm a special case as I am not only in a different country but actually grew up in East Germany in a place where we could not watch West German TV. So unlike everyone else here I did not grow up with TOS in the Seventies.

You are not alone, Comrade! Same here. Born and raised in one of the darkest places of the Warsaw Pact. No Trek until the late 80s. No Star Wars. Not even John Carter and Buck Rogers!

While we're at it, pretty much all of the Admirals.

Yes, the admirals are amazing casting. That one scene with Seth, Danson and Garber was amazing to see.

But overall, I think this just shows how varied familiarity is in general. It all depends on what one has been exposed to worldwide and the kind of circles we tend to be in. For instance, while I agree Penny is a great actress, my only familiarity with her is from DS9. I still feel Scott Grimes is one of the more recognizable ones, but that might just be me and what I've been exposed to. Whatever the case, I think he's a great talent and he's been kicking ass this season.

Feel like that’s a little too broad. You may be intimately familiar with some indie rock band and think that more people should be into them, but the Beatles are still more recognizable, even if you haven’t listened to their music. ;)

Scott just hasn’t had the same kind of exposure, over the length of time, as several others. And since I kinda remember the argument being about who would be recognizable enough to the audience to take the lead if Seth left (which he won’t) it’s about general exposure instead of an individual taste. Both the Doc and XO have a lot more National shows under their belts, and not as a voice actor.

Yeah Seth also does a ton of voice work, but he’s also show runner, created family guy, has hosted Oscars and is a household name. That cache is the only reason there’s an Orville on the air to argue about

(no Doctor Who either!)
Comrade! Now that's a word I haven't heard in a while!
There's a funny story about me also not knowing who Superman is. My aunt from West Germany had given me a drawing block with Christopher Reeve on the title. I often studied the picture, trying to figure out what it meant. Comics were forbidden because of violence.
I only watched the movies from the Seventies twenty years later in the Nineties. Lots to catch up and educate myself.

Anyway, I just rewatched the teaser for tonight episode. and I'm wondering if it's Ed behind the camera when we see Kelly saying "who are you?" but the time distortions erased their relationship and Kelly doesn't know him. Image what that would do to Ed.
Oh boy, what makes you say that? It absolutely makes sense but I am not sure if I want to see it or not! The heartbreak! If it isn't that though, I want to at least read a fanfiction about it. Brilliant idea. Just a few more hours, then we'll see whether you were right!

Well, I have to say that wasn't my favourite episode. It was cute, but I felt like it was the weakest episode this season.

No opening credits sequence. I guess they needed more time for the episode, or is that how it’s going to be from now on (which is like most network shows).

Young Kelly was super hot. They should let Adrianne Palicki always wear her hair like that. Great job of playing 2 roles by the actress BTW.

I liked it when she said "can we say past and present Kelly instead of young and old?".

Dancing Molcans were hilarious.

Good episode but 7 years just doesn’t feel long enough for that big of a change.
I liked that they came to the bridges in their PJs. You just know that if this was Star Trek, they would be fully dressed in their uniforms.
The scene where they were playing what I assume is Mortal Kombat 231 made me laugh. I’m like that with some games as well. It’s very similar to the Family Guy episode where Peter is playing Call of Duty

Ed, dude...this is deeply uncool.

I'd have less of a problem with it if she had not asked to join the crew. I'm sure The Union has regs about fraternization within a chain of command.

Side note: This is a good reason The Orville doesn't need it's own sub-forum yet. A new episode gets 11 posts on the night it airs? And three are like live tweets by the same poster. Hope ratings are better this week.
