I knew Claire from DS9 and Kelly from SHIELD, but that's it. I knew Seth's name and that he did those FOX cartoons, but nothing else about him.
Bortus was on Shameless.

I knew of "Family Guy" from channel hopping but never watched it as it was not really my humor. I usually don't pay attention to names in the credits. And in German TV everything is dubbed, so I would have not heard Seth's voice anyway.
I did not know of his other series or movies either. First time I heard of "Ted" was when John Barrowman sang the song "Everybody needs a best friend". I looked up the description and thought it was not for me either so never checked it out. Needless to say, I have watched it all now and love it. Sometimes the time is just not right.
I'm certain I have seen him presenting the Oscars but again he was a nameless guy to me. I also have actually seen the first two seasons of "24" but then I stopped as it became too violent for my liking and it's just rare that I get so involved that the names of actors or actresses stick with me. I do remember her character though. Never would have made the connection.
Never watched Agents of Shield or DS9 either.
So yes it's true, experiences vary. Some people know this guy, others that. I always joke that someone only is famous when even I know him

If I hadn't watched "Family Guy", the only person from the show I'd have known is Norm MacDonald. Been following his work since he appeared on SNL back in the early 1990's.
^Figured some may be a stretch as you're in a different country/media market, but figured the DS9 reference would have been a lock.

I'm a special case as I am not only in a different country but actually grew up in East Germany in a place where we could not watch West German TV. So unlike everyone else here I did not grow up with TOS in the Seventies. I watched it (and fell in love with) for the first time in 2015. I hadn't had time yet to tackle all the other Star Trek series. They get re-run frequently (they're at Voyager right now) and I keep getting glimpses to educate myself but not enough to call myself a proper expert / fan. The universe is a bit overwhelming with all the backstory (much like the 50+ years of Doctor Who) for a new fan so I am happy that with the Orville (to keep this on topic) I can be at the start of a (hopefully long lasting) new fandom forming, without ballast from the past.
Kelly was also on Friday Night Lights. She was Judy Robinson on the unsold pilot "The Robinsons" (Lost in Space reboot) and she walked naked thru the fields of Smallville, Kansas until coming upon the Kent farm house where she knocked on the door and hick farm boy Clark Kent opened it, gazed upon her naked body and promptly.... called his mommy and daddy.
Even if I hadn't followed [nbNorm MacDonald[/b], I'd still know him; he was on SNL, he did appearances on shows I watched like comedy programs and Conan O'Brien. H'es the only regular cast member I can say that about. Had I not ever watched "Family Guy", I wouldn't even know who Seth was.

Did any one think that F Murray Abraham showing up last week, was F Murray complaining about how much Star Trek Insurrection sucked? Since you know, it was almost the same story, but a lot better, and he was in both?

I honestly can't remember if I've seen Norm McDonald in anything more than an occaisional guest role on other shows I watch.
Wait, is that one still happening? I haven't heard anything about it since before the Disney sale.
Penny Johnson Gerald was in 24 and played a pretty memorable character. Also, 24 was pretty popular at the time.
Rewatching the Larry Sandler Show recently, Penny is a much more minor character than I thought that she was and she's got lines even less than she has screen time.
I'm not sure you are getting this. I bet you good money I can go out on the street tonight with a picture of Kiefer Sutherland from when he did 24, and asked random people who the picture was of...many of them won't get it right. And they likely would not be sure who I was talking about if I told them the name. I'm not even going to try with Penny...
Seth Macfarlane's name is more likely to be known these days by people who don't even watch Family Guy or Orville....That's what matters to FOX and the random viewers who would boost or sink the ratings/viewership.... It would be risky for Seth to leave Orville if they hope to renew it for a third season.

^Yes, me too. But I've met folks who didn't know who Harrison Ford or Bill Cosby was, so I wouldn't be surprised.
Anyway, I just rewatched the teaser for tonight episode. and I'm wondering if it's Ed behind the camera when we see Kelly saying "who are you?" but the time distortions erased their relationship and Kelly doesn't know him. Image what that would do to Ed.
