THE ORVILLE S2, E13: "TOMORROW, AND TOMORROW, AND TOMORROW"

I really liked part one of this episode and what will the time travel and Younger Kelly's decision will not seeing Ed again will have some kind of fallout in next weeks episode will cause . And the Kaylon's coming back looks exciting. Please Fox give us a season 3 to have more adventures for the Orville crew.

When it comes to fame I think Norm McDonald would be the second most famous person but I don't think that would count in this regard since he isn't really a regular or human on the show.

Yeah, that I'd agree with. I think we were talking about bridge crew anyhow. That makes me wish we could see Yaphit as part of the bridge crew for an episode :D

Man I just went back and rewatched “If the Stars Should Appear” from season 1. Man the tone was soooooo different. I forgot how much comedy it had to start with.

Love the show and the characters :adore:
Big improvements in season two overall!
Fingers crossed for a 3rd season!

Would probably have done as Ed did, including the WTF am I doing at this party...
Loved the past vs future Kelly honest talks and that Ed "realized" that he doesn't fit (anymore) with past Kelly.
the Mocklans dancing was funny, also Orville can't produce enough wine for two Kellys

Why did past Kelly not go out on a 2nd date with Ed?!
Was the memory wipe unsuccessful?
Did future and past Kelly switch places (Did future Kelly go back instead)?
Will Orville become a multi-verse show with 2 different timelines?

Way more excited for Orville's season 2 finale, than what I was for the DSC one.
Hopefully I'm not in for a disappointment.

Indeed, I've been doing a rewatch of season one and the comedy there is blatant (and I love it) and open. Now it's much more subdued. I, too, had the rug pulled out from under me when younger Kelly rejected Ed's second date, and I wonder if the memory wipe failed. Regardless, the outcome in the next episode will be interesting. We're definitely going to need a season 3, though.

I don't think the memory wipe failed because she seemed to come around to be okay with her future and saying things like "See you in 7 years" and so forth. I think maybe her thoughts are just confused because even if you wipe those memories she must be wondering why she is laying on the floor with no memories of how she got their and also you got a gap in your memory were those thoughts should be. They removed the thoughts but didn't put new ones in to replace them.

I think maybe she thought about the night before and was 50/50 on Ed but this time she simply said no. I think Kelly will be Captain in this universe but a worst officer because she never led her real life and were Ed is more successful because Kelly cheating on him was because he was always working and being distant so maybe that became who he is, and now is in a very bad place emotionally were he might be a drunk, and has no friends anymore and might just be a asshole. I am also kind of hoping we see Allura again in this episode because maybe she never stayed on her home planet.

I just love this show. The whole hour, I'm saying they're NOT going to pull a reset button because this isn't Trek. Then, It looks like they really ARE going to pull a reset button. Then, in the last 30 seconds, the whole show abruptly turns left and hits a jersey barrier. Now, I'm hanging onto the edge of my sofa for next week. My cats are getting confused.

Well, lying on the floor can be explained away as drinking heavily, which she admits to doing, and there are people who get blackout drunk and remember nothing of the night before. I have no doubt she's done that.

If the memory wipe didn't fail, then something happened to alter the future (maybe removing her from her time was enough to futz things), or it's even possible that she came from an alternate past where she said no to Ed. To be a little more romantic, her brain may have forgotten, but her heart remembers the rejection Ed gave her when she tried to become intimate with him.

We won't know until next week.

I think Seth is a Voyager fan, so I'm sure he also hated when the writers would press the reset button. I get the feeling that when he writes these episodes, he sets out to avoid the reset button as much as possible, to turn it in another direction. So the stories feel familiar, but the episode takes a left turn when we're expecting a full stop.

I quit Stargate halfway through season 9, maybe that episode is worth trying to see.

Stargate's alternate universe episodes are mainly Earths destroyed by the gu'ald because they didn't have one crucial element needed to stop the invasion. They didn't contact the Asgard, or they didn't get on the invading ships. This is a situation where they need to enter a terrible marriage to save Earth.
...or Sam Carter didn't join the Air Force.

Kelly might have remembered that Ed ran away from her bed, and figured she didn't want to get involved with a loser guy who wouldn't/couldn't perform. Maybe, to her, Ed is the reason future Kelly hadn't been promoted higher and wasn't living a "fun" lifestyle. Or, her decision could just have been the luck of the draw. The next episode should be interesting.

There were some good thought experiments in this episode, like if you could go back and give your younger self some advice, what would you tell them?
Take every cent that I can spare of my $150 weekly paycheck and buy Apple and Microsoft. And later on, when they go public, buy Google and Amazon.

I think they will sort of push a half reset at the end of next week. Things will mostly return to normal with Ed as captain and so forth but their will be one thing that is still out of place that will lead into a cliffhanger for next season. Like maybe Ed and Kelly have a 7 year old child and are still married. Or maybe Kelly and Gordon are dating or maybe married. Or Klyden died years ago and Topa was never born. Maybe Isaac is still evil and a spy.

Well, this episode had a couple of interesting twists. I was expecting Future Kelly to show up with a dire warning or something, but instead we got Past Kelly, pulled from the morning after her first date with Ed, because that's what she happened to be thinking about when the gravity wave hit. I liked how they justified that bit of convenience with the whole quantum-uncertainty-observer-effect phenomena that "even the Kaylons" don't understand.

I have to say that the actress did a great job of differentiating Past Kelly from Present Kelly in her face and body language. She has changed quite a bit in seven years, but those seven years involved marriage, divorce, and promotion from lieutenant to commander, and a first officer posting, so it's not too unbelievable. Ed's flirtation with continuing his relationship with Past Kelly was well handled-- the temptation to go back to the beginning and start over with the advantage of experience was, understandably, too much to resist, and yet that seven years of experience ultimately compelled him to back off. Generally speaking, the relationship between Kelly and Ed is one of the most mature I've seen on a TV show, which is funny on a show that did, and still does, have its share of lowbrow humor. But then, all of these clowns have a tendency to step up when the heat is on.

The dance club scene was painful, but amusing. I got a kick out of Ed and Gordon showing their age by sitting in the corner and complaining about the noise-- although that would have been me even when I was twenty. :rommie: Talla being a fan of raucous music didn't surprise me, and Yaphet's spiky dance moves cracked me up. But Bortus and Klyden win the prize for bad dance moves. And when I say bad, I don't mean bad, I mean bad.

The sequence with the two Kaylon ships was interesting. The trick with the ice in the ring system was clever, but I really think this was foreshadowing-- I think the season finale will involve a changed timeline in which the Kaylons rule the galaxy, hunting down the last remaining biological life forms because Kelly and Ed's marriage and divorce led to the entire sequence of events that defeated them. I'm also a bit worried now that Claire's comment about possible brain damage was foreshadowing-- perhaps that is what affected Kelly's decision, and that would have long-term ramifications for her life and career, and I don't know how they would undo that.

The comments about the finale are interesting. I am wondering if this will be Isaac's chance to redeem himself as it is possible he may be the only one to remember the original timeline.

As for this episode, I was a little surprised by the resolution. I was expecting the crew to reveal that the young Kelly was a quantum remnant or something. Meaning that even though she appeared from seven years ago, the original Kelly never left her timeline meaning that a second Kelly was created (rather than transported from the past).

Can't wait for the finale, and I'm hoping for a third season as well.

The 1970's called, they want their theme song back. Also, the worst FX I've ever seen. Are we sure that was from 2011?

But seriously folks, I think Adrianne would have made a better WW than Gal, and I like Gal in the part. Adrianne is just built more like WW.
It's not the real opening. It's just some mash-up that someone did using the old music and scenes from the leaked pilot. And the FXs aren't complete because it wasn't supposed to be publicly released.

Ya know, Because Ed never marries Kelly and therefore is not "distracted" by finding her with "Blue-Goo", he may be an admiral in the (Orville) present. They said he was a top officer and the cheating screwed him up.

I doubt he'd be an Admiral. Ed was only a Commander even when he found out about Kelly cheating on him. Even if that never happened, he probably still wouldn't make Captain much earlier than he did anyway.
