I didn't know the new Doctor Who season was premiering in September.Well, Orville is certainly more for Star Trek fans then a certain other sci fi show that's debuting this month![]()
Or MacFarlane's, for that matter.I wonder how many people seeing Orville as the "the great Trek hope" spent the last twenty years spitting after saying Brannon Braga's name?![]()
Some of the production crew and the actors are using the term.I fail to see what is the edgy aspect of Discovery ...
I think we're in an ideal situation for Trek fans, we've got The Orville for the old school TNG era Trek style stuff, but then we've also got Discovery, which is giving us a darker, more modern Trek that can stand alonside things like The Walking Dead or The Expanse.

Same here. The sniping at current Star Trek productions got old real fast with Kelvin universe. I'll never understand the desire to create something out of spite for another product's take.Got plans on checking it out to see what it is like. Don't really care about the arguments about between it and Discovery, as they are just TV shows. Both are different.
Except this is not "a Seth McFarlane comedy" and it's not a parody. I've read a couple articles about how the comedy aspects really aren't the main focus of the show, and that it really is a fairly straight sci-fi adventure show that just has some humor in it. One even said that what we see in commercials are pretty much all of the jokes in the pilot.Except TNG wasn't a Seth macfarlane comedy. It also wasn't a comedy/parody in general, and Orville really doesn't resemble it outside of the fact that pTNG is one of the shows that Orville is parodying. So, its really not a show that in any way fills the gap of a TNG style Trek show.
"Eyeballs are the New Penis"Eyeballs are apparently the new penises
