News The Orville: For Star Trek Fans

People complaining about moving timeslots have never had to keep up with Babylon 5.
Or DS9 and ENT in a lot of TV markets even when BOTH were first run (ENT because it kept getting pre-empted/moved for Football and other sports broadcasts.)

Okay, MAYBE the old days weren't perfect.
But Football sucks. They should just cut the end off of the stupid football game. You can see almost the entire thing if you watch the news later.(eyeroll) +(gag me with a spoon)
I don't know if I can switch my Fencing practice times so why the hell did they have to switch to Thursday's?
And
Are they planning on moving it again in two weeks??????

Football will never have the end cut off. Everyone still remembers the Heidi bowl were I think in one of the Super Bowl's the end of the game was cut off and the network started showing the movie "Heidi" which I guess was going to air that night on tv. What I don't understand is sometimes they still will show the aftergame show. Who cares about that?

Not a Super Bowl. Late 1960's game between the New York Jets and Oakland Raiders. Oakland was down by a couple of scores with three minutes left. NBC cut to Heidi, Oakland came back and won the game in spectacular fashion.

NBC said their switchboard was overloaded from irate fans.

A LOT has changed in those years in terms of filming, prop making (3D printers), etc.)

Is there some rule now that you have to use a 3D printer in filmmaking? It's merely the newest fad/novelty. It's why so much of Discovery's production design has microscopic detail, not because it's justified, but to gratuitously show off microscopic detail for its own sake. Disagree with my assessement? Read some of the interviews where those guys are literally patting themselves on the back and bragging about how many nurnies are on the Klingon outfits. They think raw detail alone justifies praise. It's probably also why they ram the Federation and Klingon logo into every nook and cranny, since they can just copy and paste it in the 3D printer software. Those guys aren't mature enough to know that sometimes less is more.

It was reported at the time that one guy blew his TV out with a shotgun over that.

Seriously.

Now, now - to be fair - this time they KNOW fans with be freeze-framing at 4K+ resolution on 500" Widescreen TV to argue about the sesin in 10 years or so; thus they want to make sure it all holds up to that level of obsessive scrutiny ;)
