Here's a comparison of the exploding SS Tsiolkovsky shot:

In the HD episode, the collision and subsequent explosion happen a few frames earlier, so the shots do not perfectly match up.

What's the deal with the registry number? The previously released shot of the Tsiolkovsky with the Enterprise had it as NCC-53911, but I thought this was fixed from having the Grissom's number (NCC-638), yet in this shot it's NCC-640?

Wowowowowo

It looks brilliant, fantastic!

Season 2!! Woah....

I bought a blu-ray player just for this :) I would never have bought one otherwise.

You're not the only who bought a blu-ray player for this. ;-) I had to buy the latest version of PowerDVD for the release as well...

Maybe NCC-640 is the never seen registry of the USS Copernicus which appeared in Star Trek IV?

It's nice to finally see just how stunning the model work was on TNG. :techman:

It's funny. Seeing these HD shots finally matches up with what I've got in my head. Back in the day it always looked this good to me.

I wonder how much detail got lost in the original. The glowing rock in Naked Now, the jellyfish creatures in Encounter at Farpoint... they used the very same elements, but the new version is vastly superior, with detail that couldn't even be guessed at in the original versions.

Agreed. Although this new, crisper-looking Ent-D is going to take some getting used to.

I got so used to seeing it with that soft, washed-out lighting over the years. In fact there was something almost magical and romantic about seeing it that way that I'm going to miss.

Season Two Trailer has been sent off to TrekCore. Look for it there soon!

More caps to come later on.

I really liked the trailer. I'm not sure if I'm going to fork over the money to double dip, but man one regret I have is I can't see these special features, like the cast reunion.

As for the new registry, supposedly for the U.S.S. Copernicus, it makes sense as ILM had a registry for the Miranda-class starship that was higher than the first ship, but was still within the same range (1800-1900 for the Miranda, 600-700 for the Oberth). I am updating my ship list.

The thing that interests me is what is revealed on the HD-set with the mission orders seen in "Conspiracy". Can we now read the starships' names and their registries? To date, the only confirmed ship is the U.S.S. John F. Kennedy.

TNG is still my umbilical cord to the late 1980s with all that soft, glowing fuzziness and sympathetic lighting. To have the decade of my childhood raped in this fashion by modern high definition is just. . . just. . .*sobs hysterically*.
