If that's how they use CG models, fine by me. TOS-R was really annoying because they went crazy with camera moves and lighting. But if they simply replace "bad" footage with the same camera angles, camera movement and lighting, that's well done.

I'm the exact opposite. I wish they had done more elaborate camera moves and angles than I've seen so far.

But they still sold me :(

I will be purchasing the seasons as they come along, unless they are very expensive.

Love the unexpected minor changes we are seeing. The BoP in particular.

It occurs to me that the sampler is unjustly being criticized for a lack of bonus materials, but they seem to be more appropriately located on the season discs rather than the sampler to me.

RAMA

Here's another review. Very high praise once again for the picture quality. I think this is blowing people away. The Ten Commandments is the best blu ray transfer I have ever seen for a non modern production. Based of what I`ve seen and heard, I have a feeling this will come close which would be amazing!

And here's an interesting new article about the restoration process:

TNG original film was stored in salt mine. Who knew?

...and there goes my lack of skepticism for this remastering effort. If the work is being divided between the professionals who worked on the show and...those OTHER guys, then I may not buy this after all.

Dear God, why? :wtf: Every review has said its perfection to a tee and you are witholding from buying it because of that minute factoid?

To be clear - I'm really looking forward to this release; I can't wait to rewatch these episodes, soak up the little details missed before (the LCARS shot is *beautiful*), and see what little changes/improvements might be made along the way.

That said, to partly play devil's advocate and to also voice some of my own inner (though minor) concerns, I have to say I'm a little puzzled at the Bird of Prey shot. I totally, completely agree with Maurice who said they have gone too far in trying to correct a previous mistake in the angle of the Klingon ship. It looks like it's pointed too high up. You may think this is such a small thing to argue, but let's be clear here: they *are* making changes, however slight. If they are going to go to the effort of making even little changes, why are they not taking this golden opportunity to get it as right as possible?

-The angle originally was a little off.
- I always thought the BoP looked far too large relative to the Enterprise. Thoughts?
- Lastly, did anyone think the two ships seemed too close together? I mean, in terms of the fictional universe, would they really get that close together?

These are small things and maybe I'm just in the minority as far as these types of changes. I'd like to hear your thoughts.

I have a very silly question here.

When George Lucas remastered the Return of the Jedi, he corrected a flaw in the original film. In the original, the green dancer suffered a wardrobe malfunction. In the new, this doesn't happen.

In the episode "The Ensigns of Command", when Deanna Troi and Jean-Luc Picard are aboard the Sheliak vessel, she had a wardrobe malfunction. She had a very visible camel toe. I am wondering if they will fix this malfunction for the remastered version. (Personally, between Wesley Crusher's acting ensign uniform and Troi's purple leotard, I couldn't decide which was more unprofessional, and I was happy when I saw Troi in a regular uniform starting in the sixth season.)

Also, I really like the new BoP it looks way more "predatorial" and menacing than that TSFS model which I never really cared for. I hope they continue to use it in other episodes.

It's the exact same design.
I didn't say design, I said model.

It's edgier and more defined. The nose is slightly more pointed and the torpedo bay much more distinctive. The decal on the under-wing looks more real and is without that silly red that was left over from when it was still supposed to be Romulan. And it's a darker shade of green.

It's not the same.

Because one of TNG's makeup artists was so important to the effects shots on the show? ;)

I wonder why CBS would CGI that dropping out of warp shot with a 6 footer clone, when there are already numerous shots of the 6 foot model dropping out of warp that would have looked better and been authentic? The lighting just looks off in that shot.

Replacing a stock shot with a different stock shot, thus reducing the amount of unique stock shots? Urk!

I figure it was a test. If they're going to rip out all the 4-foot model shots in the long run, they might as well start now. They've got two whole seasons of six-footers to get through first, so maybe by then their CGI will have improved for the full season sets.

For what it's worth, I think the other shot with the BoP looks phenomenally good. I didn't even realise it was CGI.

I look forward to seeing more! Are there any screenshots taken from the title sequence(s)?

Well, I guess my point is that it wasn't that unique of a shot. Why replicate such a basic shot with a CGI 6 footer when the real six footer already exists and would look (in my opinion) better.

It looks a little too CGI for my liking, so I hope it gets fixed before the full season is released.

As for the Bird of Prey shot, yeah...that shot does look better.

Marina Sirtis cameltoe is not a malfucntion;):p:alienblush:
And there is also this scene:

Anyway, I do not think there is really a need to start "fixing" or removing these kind of things:). Let it be, that is what I think about the issue anyway, if there is an issue to be made of this.
