On a slight downside, how cheap do the Bridge set and medical props look in HD?!
WOW. That footage is amazing. I seriously can't wait for the sampler and the full series released. I'm completely sold.
Depending on how the sets are priced, there are going to be a shit load of complete series TNG DVD sets being sold on eBay in the next few years. Although I fear given my circumstances at the moment, I'll have to wait until the Blu-ray sets come down in price a lot before I sell my DVDs.
The more I look at the DVD/Blu-ray comparision link, the more I think that DVD screenshot has been blurred up to make it look worse. I know the DVDs are poor, but that shot is awful. Gonna get my DVD out and stick it in my PC for a check.

Comparison of the sequence where the Enterprise enters orbit around Qo'noS seems to confirm that they have substituted a new planet image but retained the original model shot in the composition. The planet still looks a tad too green but that's just me.

As I suspected, the DVD screencap from The Inner Light has been blurred to make it look worse. I have made an identical screenshot from my DVD which is slightly smaller, but it's far clearer.
Still nothing like as clear as the HD version though - I can see far more detail than I can on my PAL DVD - and the colour palate is much less vibrant as well.
Lets just hope that Blu-ray screencap hasn't been fiddled with.

I probably get shot down for this but watching the trailer at 720p in full screen, that BR footage of Picard and Q from Farpoint is just plain nasty. Look at Patrick Stewart's neck to see what I mean.
Nice, that capture of the alien jellyfish is breathtaking!!
I love the new Qo'noS, the old planet was just a blurry mess. It's a huge improvement and makes me wonder what all the other planets will look like. I'm sure they'll get rid of all the planet re-uses, just like they did on TOS-R.
You should bear in mind that at the end of the day, you're still just looking at a flv file. The quality is nowhere near what it'll be on the real deal.
As for whether or not the DVD version in the trailer has been monkeyed with...all I can say is, "Who cares?" The DVDs are a blurry old mess.
On top of that, I don't believe it is any blurrier in the promo, but that the footage has been upconverted messily (Purposefully? Probably, but it gets the point across of why you should go proper HD rather than upscaling video.) which has introduced more prominent distortion in the scan lines.
...On further thought, I do wonder if the "Before" is actually a mock-up made from the HD version. The color-timing is different to the DVDs, and it doesn't have that distinctive 'transferred-from-video, discolored-pixels' look to it. Or maybe it's just because it's from the studio tape rather than the DVD? I dunno.

Looks like (for this shot, at least) they went with something closer to Academy Aperture. In fact the pixel dimensions bear that out -- 990x720 is 1.375:1 -- that's the Academy aspect ratio:
Interestingly, if you look at the trailer and keep your eyes on the pillar bars, only "Inner Light" has the slightly wider 1.37:1 AR, "Encounter at Farpoint" and "Sins of the Father" look to be exactly 1.33:1. Perhaps by Season 5 they were protecting for "Academy"?
