There's one thing I'd find awesome: if they take All Good Things and refilm the future scenes, because all of the actors have the right age for that. And for the scenes with ageless future Data, they'd need to keep the original Data footage and insert the new footage of the older actors (like in the DS9 Tribble episode). I'd pay real money to see this.

I suppose that would be neat, but what would the purpose be other than for fanwank? It's established that none of those events happened anyway, so what's the point? Not to mention that you'd now have to pay for five actors' salaries on top of the remastering budget (And even if Sir Patrick wanted to do something like this...which I'm sure he doesn't...his asking price would no doubt be pretty high. And all this just to see older and fatter versions of our heroes?)

Besides, the 'true' future likely won't have the characters looking like that anyway. People live longer in TNG's time. Thus they must age slower. They probably would look very much the same even 25 years later.

Mann Theatres did a recent promotion, showing various movies in IMAX for only $7.00, including JJTrek.

From what I've been hearing, this superfantasticspectacular movie that everyone just luuuuuuuuuuuuuuvs...has been playing to virtually empty theaters.

So much for long term fans of this thing.

The logic gaps that you gloss over, just to strengthen your idea that '09 film failed are so cute. It was an un-promoted replaying of a two year old film. And its playing to mostly empty theaters? Woopdido.

CBS-D should release some new stuff for us to drool over, because we're starting to talk about Michael Dorn's diet and whacking each other over JJTrek ...

I still want some full 1080p frames of that ship for desktop wallpaper material!

Actually, the cast has help up pretty well. I just saw Patrick Stewart in "The Captains" and he is looking quite trim. Michael Dorn was recently on Castle and he was actually loooking thinner than he did on TNG.

You realize that they padded the hell out of Dorn to make him more imposing, right? Or do you think his shoulders were really that broad?

QFT - they should release some before and after restoration HD video clips or even mere screen shots to maintain interest.

I'm sure the CBS Home Video marketing team will have a few advertisements in home video/scifi/home theatre core demographic print magazines with advertisements.

As far as before & after clips I'm sure we'll have some great fans at TrekCore or TrekWeb or TrekMovie do them for us...
Yes we'll have more press though in December. I figure it will start up after December 25. And CES will be in full effect and maybe even if CBS has a electronics deal with a Blu-ray maker such as Panasonic they will be playing the TNG-R sampler on a Blu-ray player at CES in early January.

Get Frakes on that diet!

Just look at his face. He definitely had more meat on his bones in his TNG days, padding or not.

His face? I don't see any difference beyond the makeup and the glasses. How can you tell? Nor can I tell any difference in his body, what w/ that sport shirt he's wearing. I'll take the word of folks who've seen him in person.

I'm sure we'll be seeing some clips and screenshots when they're available, and when the marketing gurus decide they will have optimal impact.

The late-January release date is probably due to the amount of time it's taking to do the work.

His shoulders have clearly lost some mass. If you had seen him in Castle you would have noticed the weight loss in his face too. Unfortunately I can't find any good shots.

All I'm saying is that it's pretty obvious he's lost weight. He's even discussed it at conventions.

Now, back to the subject at hand. Does anyone know how to speed up time? I can't wait watch the remastered episodeds!

I don't get the enthusiasm tbh...

They're still the same old eps.
Yeah, they look slightly better, but it's not like Picard will suddenly work out Darmok's language BEFORE his death this time or Berlinghof Rammussens ship will look like a Blue Police box or something....(now THERE's an idea ;) )

The hint of all new FX was about all that interested me in the project.
HD is great and all, but not "paying 70 quid more for a product I've already got/is repeated on TV constantly" great...

I guess I'm so enthusiastic because I haven't really watched TNG since its original run. I've seen most of the episodes at least a couple of times but I don't think I've ever sat down to watch the show from start to finish before.

In the last few years I have really had the urge to rewatch what is probably my all-time favourite show but every time I go to watch it the lack of picture quality ruins it for me, especially now since all I have are HD TVs. I think this remastering will be like watching the show for the first time all over again. I can't wait!

I am just glad they are taking the time and care to remaster it in HD, it shows some respect for the material. Of course it is inspired by a financial goal, but look, not all shows of this era will get this treatment, it is a treat.

This won't change our lives, but after seeing the shows the same way now for 25 years, seeing in clear HD with some new effects replacing the old video effects will be fun!

Well I'm at the opposite end of the spectrum. I find the horrible video quality of the current SD transfers to be quite distracting and I barely watch the show anymore because of it. About the only time I watch TNG anymore is if I'm in a hotel and using the typical tiny hotel television where it actually looks pretty good (on my 42" set it looks horrible).
