The official, new corridor shot thread!

If you think about it the actual set could be alot brighter and the dullness accounted by the camera.

Alot of times when you see security footage for example the colours are usually way off due to the cameras.

This might be the case here

It's fine. I'm just sad that this movie won't look exactly like TOS on the big screen. It's great to go back to the original series, I just wanted it to really look like the series.

Think about it- Everything is still SOOO far away that it would've taken a LOT of effort to get all this done and have the meetings necessary to finalize it all so early in the game. There's still gotta be someone at the studio who gives stamps of approval to stuff. I just don't see this being buttoned down this early in production time-- waaaaay too soon.
So, you think having set designs nailed down by the time principle photography begins is rushing things?

Furrie tendencies anyone?

You boys who love your lesbian catwomen and green Orion women baffle me--would you really really really want to make it with a green chick? Or a bipedal giant cat?

Green chick? Hell yeah, especially if they looked like Susan Oliver, or Yvonne Craig, or those women they had on ENT.

Bipedal giant cat? Maybe not so much.

I see more of a goa'uld mothership in the BSG corridor

However I think this has made it easy for a lot of us. Abrams talked of making this an in-canon prequel, but that is now obviously not the case. It is a reimagining - no two ways about it (unless, of course, the movie establishes this to be some sort of alternate timeline Enterprise -- OR the corridor in question is from another ship, which has just occurred to me).

TNG, DS9 and ENT have all shown that the TOS-era designs look fine shot in the modern day, especially ENT which shot IAMD in high-def and everything and the Defiant looked fantastic. So this is clearly a conscious decision to reimagine Trek, despite Abrams' comments.

This is a good thing, and this is what I've been hoping for all along, because the fanbase will reject anything that veers too far away from the established canon IF the film was to be in canon. But if they're giving us a new look, like BSG, then the door is open here for all the Trek factions to actually unite behind Star Trek and start over again.

And that IMO is the only way this franchise is going to survive, especially with the inevitability of having to replace the original TOS actors with new ones.

So I'm starting to see Nimoy's appearance more as a handing-of-the-torch in the same way Richard Hatch's appearance in nuBSG was an acknowledgement of the original series by the reimagining.

Cheers

Alex

If presented with the reality (as unlikely as that is), I suspect many people would be unnerved as it would most likely trigger a "flight or fight" response, at least on the subconscious level. Our "reptile" brains would be shouting, "Not like you! No like you! Possible threat to your survival!"

For the people who exhibit interest in this sort of thing, I suspect it boils down to the "fantasy" of the exotic, different enough so as not to be routine, but not so different as to alienate. The thing is, every one has different thresholds of the so-called "uncanny valley" response. What one person finds attractive, another may find repugnant.

Really, Holy' and I are just goofin' around, trying to lighten the mood around here. Besides, if the Caitian welders are indeed lesbian, well, being a guy, that would put me out of the running! :( ;)

Sincerely,

Bill

Yeah -- in 1974 I was a geeky pre-ubescent fanboy who thought the cartoon cat M'Ress was hot. So what? That's normal -- isn't it? :wtf:

And to Biggles -- Yvonne Craig looks hot two ways -- as a Green Orion and as the rubber-suited Batgirl. Susan Oliver on the other hand was just downright beautiful as simply Vina, but grotesque as an Orion.

The Office of "Oh, Quit Being a Party Pooper." It's up on the same floor as the Offices of "STFU, n00b," "I Did It for the lulz," and "I RUN THIS SHIT."

Not me!

My wife is black, and I never had the fight or flight response.

Richard Hatch did not appear as Apollo on nuBSG.

Leonard Nimoy will appear as Spock in Star Trek XI.

Nope. Its not the same.

Will Spock be an emotionally red skinned Martian?

Will James Kirk have an R as his middle inital?

The Star Trek XI Enterprise design is what Roddenberry and Co wanted the ship to look like since 1964.

Star Trek is not a reboot.

OFFICIAL as in "We have nothing better to do for the next 11 months as the secrecy on this film is so tight we aren't getting any news at all from the powers that be so we're going to talk about anything we can get our hands on." The office of the department of redundancy department.....

That means major parts of the film would be set...

Post Nemesis tm! :applause:

If we don't have TNG Lite shoved down our throats, people will want TOS TOS TOS all the time.

Remember the secret words: Post Nemesis, Post Nemesis... ;)

Best put-down all week.

Nice. I guess these were the areas of Pike's NCC-1701 we never got to see in the original pilot. I like the meshing of ENTERPRISE/NX-01 sensibilities from the previous century with mid-23rd century styling.
