The official, new corridor shot thread!

Here's an enhancement I made with some better noise removal.

I quite like it. The lighting doesn't bother me at all, as it's actually more consistent with a vessel that has limited power generation capabilities . That's the one thing that always bothered me about TNG, Voyager etc, particularly Voyager - they were always banging on about having limited energy supplies and the need to conserve what little resources they did have, but every set was almost comically overlit. I find this approach of "functional lighting" to be quite refreshing for Trek.
But if one has limited power capabilities - and I agree, that wouldn't necessarily be a bad thing at this point in Trek's timeline, despite the examples of ENT - at the very least, one wouldn't waste what light one can generate by having such dark interior surfaces. White or light-colored walls would make better use of the available light, not to mention making the shipboard environment more conducive to both living and working over long periods (when I started Endeavour, I postulated an interior patterned after the Arts & Crafts design ethic; imagine my surprise when they did this with Stargate: Atlantis!). Even a navy ship has painted interior spaces to make it both brighter and safer.

Looks much darker than TNG and VOY corridors.
`
And I like dark. :)
If this movie is going to be darkly lit and full of shaky camera work then that's two big strikes against it, from my perspective.

---------------

I agree 100%

As for the dark- I like the light. I like the optimistic future Star Trek depicted. If you want dark, go to BSG, Star Wars, or any other myriad of movies and shows depicting bleak futures. Leave Star Trek alone!

When I read "Final Frontier" I always imagined the corriders to look like this.

Oh...wait...

:tin foil mode on:

Shaky cam...dark corridors...I HATE NUBSG, STAR WARS, ETC, ETC!!!!!!!!!!

 :scream: :censored: :brickwall:

:guffaw:

Every Star Trek XI degenerates into a I Hate nuBSG, Star Wars, Firefly, nuBSG, nuDr. Who, DS9, Vanguard, TOS-R, TAS, Bladerunner, Babylon 5, change Thread tm.

Maybe they still have to aply some cover paneling or something like that. This could make it appear brighter.

Bit too dark for my taste - I too am a bit sick of 'edgy' SF where the 'edginess' is provided almost entirely through being so dark you can barely make anything out, and lots of swearing.
Before anyone jumps on me, I'm aware this is a huge inference from a picture of a corridor, I'm just thinking out loud. In terms of the design itself I like it - maintains some of the 60s ship's elements while updating it. Pretty much exactly what I hoped the set designs would do.

I'm wondering if this isn't a Jefferies Tube... especially with all that exposed piping. Remember some of those TOS-era ones in "In A Mirror, Darkly" Part II were quite big.

Is that somekind of gooseneck viewer/scope on the wall?

Incidentally, is this picture still online over at the official site? I'm wondering whether it's been pulled because fans discovered it quicker than they were supposed to.

aw man - there is no WAY that carpet is of the same pile as the original series - Phil McCavity who designed the original carpets must be spinning in his grave - this film is DEAD to me.

You want the carpet from the original series in the movie!!??

Ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww.

I don't see a carpet :hint:

Looks good - but I'm bored with the faux "darkness" that's a stylistic trend but has little to do with content. The content of BSG earns the approach; no "Star Trek" ever made has or should.

Star Trek: The Motion Picture.

Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan

Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country

Star Trek VII: Generations

If it was well lit it would look out of place in the camera game thingy on the site.

Will Kirk be walking down the corridor's with the adama look getting ready to fire nukes on the cylons?

Anyone have a NUBSG corridor to compare with?

Of course the corridors are not lit! They're building the Enterprise on Earth. The electricity companies must overcharge their fees!
In space, it's free!

As long as it's bright enough for people to navigate it without tripping over something, any light level above that is a waste.

That style of T-junction and circular corridor sppeared in TOS about a million times, that must be an Enterprise corridor. What else would an NCC1701 construction website be displaying?

Can we have a word filter that turns "BSG" into "Ronald McDonald's funhouse" or something similar?

An Enterprise Jefferies tube?
