Spoilers The Nus Braka appreciation thread

Maybe I need to rewatch the opening scenes again, but I remember having the impression that Nus was reveling in the fact that he’d screwed Anisha by contriving a way to make her complicit in the officer’s death.

It struck me as the same kind of sadistic manipulation he was doing in the last episode.

I took him as trying to take all the blame rather than letting her have any. He's taking the heat for her.

So the question is why she betrayed him at that moment. I think for a man like Nus Braka to steal the food from Federation and kill someone to feed a woman, It showed that he has a feeling to her, maybe even a love interest. So why did she betray him? That's a question in my mind.
For her son?

I think Braka is going to attack Earth. My speculation is that the Athena will be grounded by Vance to protect the Cadets and Ake and because Venari Ral attacks are increasing throughout Federation space. Braka will use one of the weapons he stole to attack Earth and the Academy. He's going to show Ake that she is not safe anywhere, not even on a core world stronghold of the Federation. It will also serve to show the Federation and Starfleet, how little Braka fears them and that he is absolutely going for the throat. And an attack on Earth does seem like a possibility given that there is a shot in one of the trailers of meteor-like objects descending on San Fran. Could it be weapons fire? Debris from destroyed ships and stations in orbit?

I was thinking along similar lines. With the seat of government now located on Betazed and an appropriate amount of the fleet now relocated there to protect it, it's no longer as a ripe of a target as it used to be, while Earth could be seen as vulnerable. Especially with whatever technology he's stole from the research station.

Like Him and his character better than that Emerald Chain nonsense of Disco S4.
Give a good actor some good writing, good things will happen. Sadly the writters room is full of morons.

I liked the Emerald Chain because I want to know how Andoria became a kleptocratic dictatorship.

The death of Osyraa seemed to do a lot of harm to the Chain. Andorians are part of this enemy state in season 3 but then in talks to rejoin the Federation at the end of season 4.

We don't see any Andorian cadets though so who knows how those talks are going.

I would love for novels in this era that address things like Osyraa being considered a heroic patriot or complicated ruler versus tyrant.

I liked Braka far more in the latest episode than in the pilot.

What I like most is how he calls out the Federation's superiority complex and arrogance, which is something that was done by various characters on DS9, like Quark, Garak, etc. (It mirrors how a lot of people currently act in real life.) He's got some good points. Starfleet and the Federation needs that splash of cold water now and then. The difference now vs. the 24th century is that the Federation is significantly weaker in the 32nd century. And all those times of being arrogant and feeling superior is likely going to bite them in the ass now. Braka is likely a tip of the spear for what's to come with other powers that are just tired of the Federation.

(At least, that's my hope. It would be interesting to see an alliance of anti-Federation groups. Functionally similar to the Dominion but more targeted than what the Dominion represented.)

By the sound of PG's interview with the D-Con boys, Braka is alive at the end of Season 1 but doesn't feature in 2. He'd still like to appear if there was a S.3
My money is on the Furies turning on Braka during the final battle with Starfleet leading to Ake saving his life. And it will be deeper than that. I think Ake, will make a conscious choice to not hate Braka the way he hates her and to not see him as a low life, but someone who is so irrevocably damaged that he's worthy of pity and not hate. Ake will arrest Braka and ensure him that he will get representation and a fair trial and not be subjected to the same treatment he received 15 years ago. Which will tie in to the overarching theme of the Federation/Starfleet overcoming their authoritarian and hawkish past.
