I got arrested for peddling a fake ID the last time I went home to Minnesota. For starts I don't look anything near 27, and using out of state IDs is common place with fakes. Plus, the New Mexico driver's licenses are kinda goofy looking.
So I went out with my friends one night and the bouncer insisted it wasn't real. (It must've been a pretty good fake!) There was a cop there and even after I insisted it was real he dragged me out to his car and ran a check. Of course, everything turn out to be on the up and up and he had to (embarrassingly) let me go.
I told him he could make up for it by paying for my cover. He declined.

I was always cautious with out of state IDs, but where I bounced, the usual was NJ, NY, CT, Penn, DE, MD, rare to get more out of state than that for where I bounced

I usually just get Illinois and Iowa. Illinois had recently redesigned their IDs, but since I had never seen them before, I was very confused. And then I had to wrap my brain around the idea that people born in 1987 are old enough to drink.
I also get a lot of military IDs because we have the Arsenal about 5 minutes away.
I really think every state should have a similar ID. If not the picture or design, then at least the layout should be the same so I know where on the ID to look.
