The Night Crew

Well, I should say after brown sugar.

I don't know what molasses is. I've heard of it, but I couldn't tell you at all what it is or where to get it. And as far as I know, "chipotle" is an adjective.

I'm trying learn more about food, but I'm also a lazy chef.

I prefer learning about alcohol so I can be a better and more knowledgeable bartender.

Well, I learned the hard way that knowing a lot about food doesn't always guarantee the right job. Even though I was usually a better cook than most of the people I've worked with, I still ended up pretty much waiting tables. Heck, I was even once hired as a sous chief and ended up waiting tables.

Ooh, did you have one of those crazy black lights that tell you whether an ID is valid or not?! I only encountered that once, while on the other side of the country, and it freaked me out.

Damn, that's lame.

Luckily, when you get hired as a bartender, you pretty much end up tending bar.

Well, I only have myself to blame. I have a very charming personality and this certain knack of being able to "handle" people such that, any employer I had, ultimately found it more beneficial to have me on the floor waiting tables than in the kitchen. That is, waiting on the tables no one else wanted. Heck, a lot of the people you and Turd Fergusonwere complaining about I could, not only get them to buy more, but talk them into a nice tip.

Obviously the people I worked for like that. In fact, in one case my cousin and I worked at the same place and he found out long after I'd left that there was something in one of my reviews about "encouraging advancement in management and terminating any culinary promotion" or some such.

I of course got the job there in the first place because I wanted to be a cook.

I suppose I could've just started being mean to people, but then I'd probably just've been fired.

Nah, you just needed to start acting like an moron who gets confused easily by doing more than one thing at a time.

Or maybe that's just my kitchen staff.
