The Night Crew

While it may be always be nighttime around the world, the TrekBBS definitely seems to have its own "night," which generally corresponds with the period between Midnight and 4am (an estimate) in the United States. It is a time when there is very little board activity and there are really only a few "night owls" posting.
Several of us decided that the Night Crew consists of those people who frequent the board at those hours, as we realized that we are usually the only ones here.
Consider it a "Check in" thread for insomniacs.

Hello night crew! I am going to have to lend my voice in support of this thread. If you're up at 3am EST it gets a bit slow around here. It's nice to have a place for a chat during insomniac hours.
And as such, I am a bit early -- it's not even quite midnight! But that is because I've nothing else to do. I am flat broke. Quite literally penniless. There's a sweet little cafe about a ten minute's walk from my apartment -- it's one of those hipster joints, but out here in Bushwick where all the poor hipsters live. They play movies on a big projector, have free wi-fi, serve lovey drinks, and rent out films, all with a terribly tacky '70's decor. Anyway, my friend and I went there to play Scrabble tonight (they were playing the Muppet Movie!), and to stock up on the end-of-the-night 50 cent bagels and croisants. Thank God for those bagels, because they've joined a can of tuna, jar of pickle relish, and 2 apples as all the food I have until next Tuesday.
Whatever, I could stand to lose about ten pounds.

Sleeping last night. I spent the morning working a phone bank as a volunteer for a fundraiser for Phoenix Children's Hospital. However, since they kept putting Red Bull and Coke cans, full coffee cups, and Krispy Kremes in our hands, I've been wired all day and will probably be up until 4am.
Absolutely wonderful experience. Very, very fun, although some of the stories the parents and kids told just tear your heart out.
Now that's exciting! What are you getting? And where?It's only midnight here, hardly even qualifies as insomnia. Not yet at least.
I'm getting my first tattoo tomorrow (actually, that would be later today).

What's up people?
I'm currently doing a little bit of packing. Just packing things I won't need to use over the next month or so (basically old Star Trek novels). Have found a book about maths, which I'm thinking about reading, as never finished it when it was given to me as Christmas present a few years ago.
I remember when the lovely Niorah was a regular poster at another board. Almost like clockwork, midnight my time, and she'd show up.

Just got back from a bar. I only had one beer, but I felt like getting out of my house. I met up with my best friend and a couple of his work friends, who were really drunk by the time I got there. It wasn't the most fun time ever, but it was something to do.
I slept in until 2pm yesterday, so I don't know if I'm going to be able to get to bed anytime soon.
I also finished watching Babylon 5 earlier tonight, so I don't even know what to put on the TV.
