Isn't a ship lost somewhere far away what Voyager did? And space wars was DS9? The trouble with sci fi is so much of it has been done - not necessarily by Trek - Space Above and Beyond was interesting (but again, war in Space), BSG is wowing at the moment, but it's managed to make the "baddies" very two dimensional and interesting, as well as bringing in some excellent acting talent. "Heroes" is sci fi, as is 4400 - and they're all covering original angles. Trek has a heck of a lot of competition out there at the moment if it's going to make an impact. Maybe a Q based series, might be the way to go.
