The next regeneration

Personally, I don't think it would have been that bad if Ten had went from radiation poisoning to the Rose scene. As a desperate gamble to see what he loves one last time. If they could have skipped over the Donna part (okay, maybe keep the Lottery Ticket scene, cause that was awesome), Wilf, Donna's mother, Martha, Mickey, Jack, Sarah, and Luke, and just went from sacrifice to the final moments with Rose and the stagger back to the TARDIS, then I think it would have had a far more profound impact than the drawn-out mess we ended up with.

Yeah the Jack scene, the Luke Sarah Jane bit and the Martha and Mickey bit were poor. Seeing Jessica Hynes was sweet, but it wasn't really needed. I liked the Donna scene, and the Rose scene was the perfect way to end it.

^Ha!! It was so long, I had forgotten about Jessica Hynes! Thus, our point, I suppose... ;)

Exactly!

If anything I wonder if they should have inserted all those bits within the course of the second part? He did believe he was going to die after all, or if he'd even had a throwaway comment to the effect that he probably had 24 hours...but from his conversation with wilf you wouldn't know if he had 2 days or 2 minutes!

That said for a man with a time machine I guess all that shuttling about could have been done very quickly...but it felt like it took a long time--he probably had to queue for an hour to get his book signed!
