The next companion should be...

A form of the Master was a companion in the "Scream of the Shalka" web animations. They never really explained HOW it happened, but the Doctor had somehow put the essence of the Master into a robot body that could not leave the TARDIS, and apparently put limitations that would keep the Master from killing him (though it didn't stop him from trying thorugh omision of action). Something like that could be cool.

I might have to check that out, that's kind of like my idea about the reluctant Dalek. I was thinking along the lines of Spike(Buffy) with the inhibitor chip where he wasn't really trustworthy and his weakness would sometimes lull the protagonists into forgetting his real nature.
Yes, very much like Spike in that aspect. It's actually a real fine story, I'm surprised it didn't take off, didn't look all that expensive (Not that it looked cheap).

Anyone know why it was abandoned?

I'd love to see Clani come on board, maybe a few years in the future when they're off at university/art school so we wouldn't have any awkward questions about their parents, or Sarah Jane. Only problem is I think we'd all lik eto see them become a couple, and we've already had one of those on board.

Second choice would be a Nyssa type character. Alien, inteligent, somewhat shy and cultured. Maybe shes recovering from a tragedy in her life (loss of parents or home). Basically someone who'd benefit from Elevens whacky nature.

Just please God, not another perky young woman from 2012 London!!

Not joking much, but what about a pretty young thing from 2005 and the Doctors first stop is 2012... Oh. The Olympic Torch episode, and the first Dalek Episode. Just seeing the brief schism of a human coping with a change form a couple years, that's gotta be palpable.

One of the most drawing moments in the sarah Connoir Chronicles was in episode 3 I think when she's talking to some biker about getting fake passports, so they say "that ain't so easy since 9/11" and she says "What's 9/11?" and then sad music starts up so that we can't hear them describing the towers fall down, just see their massive Itallian hand gestures, and could lip read them saying things like "kapow!" "Shazam!" and "BBBOOOMMM!" like it was an episode of 60s Batman.

i'd like to see them do a companion from UNIT who's always pulling their sidearm at the sight of aliens, much to the Doctor's chagrin, but over the course of their time, we see them switching to putting their hand on the gun and by the time they leave, their not even doing that unless it's the Daleks or Cybermen.

Let's not and say we didn't. That would annoy the hell out of me more than it would The Doctor.

Well, we've had "shoot first" companions before, notably Leela ("prick with a Janus thorn first") and Ace ("blow up with Nitro 9 first"). Jamie probably counts as well, to an extent.

Ace, Leela and Jamie only fought to defend themselves I can't remember a time when they caused a fight or struck first.

Maybe we could finally get a NuWho companion not from 21st-century Earth?
I miss the days of non-Earther companions.

What about Jack Harkness?

Jack is established as coming from Earth in the future or so I thought?

We know Jack's from the Boeshane Peninsula, but there's no indication as to what planet that's on. I suppose it could be on Earth, but I prefer to believe it's on Silver Devestation. ;)

According to the Doctor Who Wiki, a Torchwood novel established that the Boeshane Peninsula is on one of Earth's colony worlds.

So There's an explosion, and people are running, and the TARDIS materializes on the edge of all that chaos stopping one bloke in his tracks, who looks at this blue box in amazement wondering what's trying to kill him this time... And the Doctor says "Salman Rushdi! If you want to live come with me."

Rushdi is a fan of Doctor Who he included the Mutts from The Mutants in his Satanic Verses.

Oh no, not one of those "pacifism is the true way to enlightenment" messages. A trigger happy companion would work fine to balance out the doctor's pacifism, but the companion's violent ways can't just be treated as a flaw that the Doctor will fix.

Like I said, see Leela and Ace. In both cases, the Doctor tried to get them to abandon their violent ways, but those ways tended to come in handy a lot.

I think it was 'Remembrance of the Daleks' where the Doctor asks Ace if she has any of that Nitro-9 he keeps telling her not to make because he now needs to stop the Daleks. Her response 'Of course' that was a funny scene.:guffaw:

I wouldn't be surprised. Go with some timey-wimey fairy tale explanation of how The Eleventh Doctor met with her before she died.
