Rory, Amy and River are the 11th's only companions. the rest either fail to travel in the TARDIS or fail to reappear more than once.

Ah, but, Abigail and Kazran, although they appear only in the Christmas Special, do make numerous trips in the TARDIS, year after year, so, they should count as Companions, IMHO.

this, from our point of view as viewers they only last one episode, but the important bit is that they have multiple adventurous with the Doctor, so the Doctor would view them as companions like any other.

Also the SJA cast do travel in the TARDIS

Also whilst the Arwells didnt travel in the TARDIS, they did travel in space and time, by a method devised by the Doctor, which was a Big Blue Box The Doctor made the choice to take them to another planet and another time, is how he did that important?

I think you can say Sarah Jane and Jo are companions of the 11th Doctor, even though it was only one story and one trip. They kind of have the edge on the rest of them
