Spoilers The new (massive spoiler) ship!

Which I still believe was a script error/mistake/oversight and that design was not actually intended to be a D7, because they had names for all the Klingon ships behind the scenes, and that one was not called a D7.

I think the writer just threw the name into the script as a TOS reference without considering that they didn’t actually have a D7.
IIRC, it was the voice actress who does the computer voice who decided to say "D-7" for that scene having recently been doing Klingon research and knowing that's what the main Klingon ship from TOS was called, not realizing there were plans to use a different ship in that scene.
So which bigger, the Enterprise F or Enterprise D or Enterprise E?
The F appears to be the biggest of the three, while the D is bigger than the E.

Bigger by volume or by legth? The E is longer than the D by some 40 meters, but the D's bulked up saucer gives it more interior room.

Not just the saucer, the -D is considerably wider than the -E all-around, and a good part of the -E's length is the nacelles trailing out behind it, while the -D's warp engines barely stick out past the end of the engineering section. It's just that the usual side-view comparisons hide the difference. Here's a comparison I made to show the relative sizes more clearly.

.

So because the voice actor said D7, they had to leave it in when clearly it wasn't meant to be a D7? That doesn't really pass the smell test for me. Voice over is the absolute easiest thing to fix in post. Replace D7 with kvor'cha-tarrrrgjh class or whatever. Done.

I mean, at some point in time it could have been corrected. In my opinion the "D7" doesn't refer to a particular configuration of ship but a category designation for capability. See also "Bird of Prey" for both Klingon and Romulan.

You have to contextualize this with the times it was done. It's well documented that Disco's first season had a lot of behind the scenes drama, with the hiring and departure of many writers and producers and even the firing of the creator and showrunner. The season's ending was completely rewritten, while the season was being filmed. Add into the fact it was a time where there was a lot of miscommunication which led to some production people reporting some very inaccurate things, like Eaves and the whole 25% thing. Take all this into account, and it's very easy to accept that a situation could have occurred in which a voice actress decides to embellish a particular line to show she's been doing her research into Star Trek, only it ends up being an error but stays in anyway. The post-production people at the time probably didn't bother reviewing the line to make sure it was accurate, they probably just checked to see if the lines were recorded and seeing they were, mixed the dialogue into the episode and called it a day.

You seem to be under the impression the show worked smoothly like a well-oiled machine at this point, despite the fact it's well known among everyone it didn't. And even on shows which are well-oiled machines, this sort of thing happens all the time. Hell, this isn't even the only time a voice recording mistake was left in a finished episode on Star Trek. Over on Lower Decks, it was only due to a recording mistake by Tawny Newsome the resulted in an Andorian character being named "Jennifer" which the show since decided to roll with and officially make that the character's name.

Everyone's been saying that since the episode aired, but it's clear this was never the intent, as indeed in Disco's second season it's made very clear that D-7 is indeed meant to be the name of that particular ship class.

Sure but I like working around errors or changes then just ignoring them. It's more fun than just complaining about the writers...for me.:techman:

So D is the biggest. She's truly a Heavy Cruiser with a taste of Battleship.
