The New Enterprise in 3D! ... NOW FINISHED (threads merged)

Any updates on the klingon ship?
The "Reliant" looks great.
I must say, you've really nailed the "look" of this movie. Especially apparent when applied to the other ships. Great great work.

I wonder, that tiny blurry ship under the "starbase"...perhaps the directors reversed the "upside-down" reliant issue and put the nacelles back on top? :)
Not for the Klingon, yet. I think my issue with that was that I was trying to make it "Blobby" like the Enterprise, but I think I will go in the other direction with it. Making it more Angular, and stretched out than the original. I'll be doing some sketches. :)

Well, I can see that, give it an alien distinction. I do like how you rethought the original, not copying every component. The nacelle wings and inboard mounted nacelles are particularly nice.

Updates...

It's coming along well. :)

I'm impressed. The curved struts actually work there. :techman:

Mad.... Man this looks great!

When I saw this yesterday I thought this design was gonna be bad, but now with that curved rollbar & textures it really dose work well.

My only surgestions are that you should add 3D shuttle bays & even have some ships parked or maybe some crew walking about to help us see just how big the ship is.

I'm still not fussy about the design elements and them using it in the movies for TOS but that Reliant is looking good keep up the good work :bolian:

Miranda is flaw design and not my favorite. Why doesn't Miranda class have deflector disk mounted on it.. and the Constitution-class has. What is the point?. Isn't deflector disk vital part and without it ship would probably hit asteroid or black hole. You cant have it both ways. Either all Trek warp ships need deflector disk or none. Rant over.

There's lots of ships that don't have deflectors, but I do think that Madman should look at having this style of deflector that XFozzboute designed for his Saladin class.

Hmm, I'm not sure if I like that. It looks too "tacked on".

Actually I did incorporate the deflector into this model, even if it points in the wrong direction. :)

I just wanted something glowy down there. :)

When I first saw the Miranda years ago I thought those blue domes were its version of a deflector, but now I know that it's the warp core & I beleive most peaple will think the same.

Alright... I have been busy this morning. I have some new Wallpaper...

(This is going to be a thread stretcher for sure :) )

I foung that Flaming Pear's Lunar Cell is probably my new favorite Photoshop plugin. My planets rendered in Blender are always weak, but with this plugin, I can make ones that look much better. :)

Madman1701A (and everyone else) these are tremendous designs. I've been following this thread since it started and Madman1701A, I must say your model almost has me liking the film design. Excellent work!
Thanks!

I thought I would post a comparison of all 3 revisions of this ship that I have built. It's obvious that it's helped me with me technique and taught me some patience. I built the first one in about a day, the second one in about a week, and the final one about 3 weeks, total. :)

Taking your time counts for a lot. :)

What's most impressive about this project of yours, is the progress you have made as a modeler since you started this. :techman:

That Reliant is simply awesome. Love those nacelle struts. The ship as a whole has a nice "flow". (not trying to rhyme:)

Are you still accepting project ideas? How about the Feb cover of "Nacelles Monthly" Mag? :)
(Kind of surprised that nobody has posted up anything yet).

Anyway, those planets are incredible as well. Looks like a very full-featured plug-in. (Would be interesting to see a stand-alone version, like that old "Universe" starscape app years ago).

Thanks. :) I think that I spent enough consecutive time with Blender to really get some skills reinforced.

Thanks. I might think about the Magazine cover. :)

I thought the combined rollbar and struts was a good idea. I never understood the whole "Laser Cannon" thing going on where they joined, it was like that was an easy way to hide a seam. :)

Actually it's the impulse deflection crystal, which basically allows the impulse engines (and other systems) to share power from the M/AM engines... Warp Cores are a TNGism, dammit!
