The New Enterprise in 3D! ... NOW FINISHED (threads merged)

When I first saw the Miranda years ago I thought those blue domes were its version of a deflector, but now I know that it's the warp core & I beleive most peaple will think the same.

Actually it's the impulse deflection crystal, which basically allows the impulse engines (and other systems) to share power from the M/AM engines... Warp Cores are a TNGism, dammit!

Well, to be fair there is the second one on the bottom which doesn't quite line up with the upper one, so it's an understandable conjecture.

Yeah. I don't even have a crystal on top of this one. I just wanted to stick my deflector on it somewhere, because I like the texture. :)

Didn't warp cores first show up in TMP? Or was that just called an "Intermix Chamber" at that point?

Unrelated, but does anyone have a good technique for making phasers? I am going to re-create an image from the new trailer, but I'm not sure how to make these things. I'm just going to add them Post in Photoshop.

The end of last year I was working on a TMP Connie map & I got as far as getting a basic model of the entire secondary hull & a basic layout of the neck & the central core area so I learnt a few things about the design.

What I learned was
1 - The core runs right through the ship.
2 - The main room where Spock dies is 2 deck below the torpedoes, with the core & torbo-lift running between the tubes where Spock & McCoy do work on a torpedo in ST6.
3 - At the top of the tube (G Deck) there's a room which was acturly the Ent-Ds engineering in TNG.
4 - That dome on deck F holds a reactor as can be seen below.
5 - & lastly it oddly appears that to reach the Rec-Deck you have to walk through the sick bay.

That makes me want to get another copy of "Mr. Scott's Guide to the Enterprise" :)

I was working on another image tonight, and I really like how it turned out. I have dual monitors at work, so I wanted to make something that I could use to spread across both of them, and have it look like it continues across.

I went and formatted them for single screens, though, for everyone's convenience. :)

and a square one...

and one with no black bars. :)

That last one doesn't do it justice, though. :)

here's a link to the full, uncropped image...

(It has no credits, please don't steal it too bad. :) )

Ricky, that looks beautiful! I think your model is actually nicer looking than the actual ship! :-) One thing, I think the actual Enterprise is a little wider in the secondary hull. Also, The deflector dish and the "torpedo/whatever" thing on the neck is not quite right. Besides that, it looks great!

Thanks. :)

I know that there are inaccuracies, but those are mainly do to limitations of my modeling ability. :)

Here what I was referring to when I mentioned about having to pass through the sick bay to reach the rec-deck.

For a joke why would they need one passage leading directly between the rec-deck & sick bay as besides the new movie & Phlox's puffer-fish head, has anything more than a broken nail ever happened in a Star Trek bar / rec-deck.

I bet even an army of a 1000+ red shirts could survive the worst possible event that could happen like look at Star Wars.

Not to be rude, but what does any of this have to do with MadMan's Enterprise model?

Nothing much but I thought it might be of intrest to see what I was on about & anyway that's the last from me on the sick-bay / rec-deck topic as it was only ment as a breif joke note in a earlier-post.

madman i love your reliant model any chance of a saladin type one? similar to the kelvin
That's a good idea. I'll work on building a Destroyer type. Any name suggestions?

Speaking of Kelvin, this is what I was working on tonight.

I tweaked all of the textures on my Kelvin model, to add a little more depth. I think it looks better, but not as good as Tobias Richter's, over at SciFi-Meshes. :)

That's a nice deja-vu moment for me. Some of my earlier renders (from 2001 and 2002) look just like this image of yours.
Hell, I even used the same font and separated the black bars from the image with the same white line :)

Nice image, btw :) :techman:
