The Muppets (2011)

Yeah, but that's never been the only thing they had to offer. I'm with the guy at the end of the trailer -- I'd like to see a trailer that's about what the movie actually is, rather than what it isn't.
I dunno. I'm really enjoying the Monty Python-esque humor in the trailers. I just hope the movie lives up to the trailers. :)

I think this might be the best Easter Egg in a movie poster ever.

^OK, I looked for a good five minutes and couldn't see it. What's the easter egg? Is Kermit in all that green somewhere?

I finally caught it. You have to look really hard. Look in the vicinity of Amy Adams head.

I see what looks kinda like half of Kermit's head on the far right, overlapping the gap between tree trunks (at about the level of Semel's shoulder). I'm not sure that's what it really is, though.

I don't see anything specific around Ms. Adams's head.

Oh, really?

It's not like Muppet parodies are anything new, either.

Teaser trailers like this are common in the early days of a movie's advertising, closer we get to the release date (Thanksgiving/The Holidays for The Muppets) the more involved the trailers will get. These now are doing what they're supposed to do tease you.

They're trying to tease me, but they're doing it in a way that leaves me unimpressed. I know parody has always been part of the Muppets' repertoire, but as I said, it's only been one small part of the whole. But too much modern film comedy seems to consist of nothing but lazy parodies of other current films, so as long as this ad campaign gives me nothing but that, it's doing nothing to convince me this film will be any better or more imaginative than those.

In fact, though, this trailer did make me laugh once, and it was when the Semel guy complained about the overuse of parody trailers and went on to do the "Swedish" line, an honest-to-gosh joke that wasn't just about "Hey, doesn't this remind you of that other thing you just saw?" So that, at least, was promising. I think it's the first actual laugh I've gotten from the ad campaign for this film, so hopefully that's a good sign about the film itself.

Then the current marketing campaign is obviously not working for you, which is fine, few teaser trailers work for me either. But I wouldn't judge the movie's plot or what it's parody will be like based on teaser trailers obviously designed to parody movies that are currently coming out, wait until the actual theatrical trailers come out this fall to see what the movie will entail which - I suspect - won't be wall-to-wall "Movie Movie"-like parodies of recent films but something a bit more grounded in what the Muppets are known for.

Yeah. If the parody trailers aren't working for you Christopher, then simply wait until the next theatrical trailer comes out.

That's hilarious. I can't believe anyone spotted it. :rommie:

I nearly burned out my retinas looking all through the foliage (I figured that much green meant something was there), and finally spotted him above Ms. Adams' lovely head, and that was with the clue that there was an easter egg in the poster. I don't know how Timby managed to do it! :D
