First Contact...
Rambo Picard and zombies, enough said.
you can make a lot of movies sound bad by giving silly, one line descriptions.
TVH: Humpback whales and a floating tin can. Enough said.
TWOK: ear slugs and Kirk's son. Enough said.
Etc.
First Contact...

One vote for TMP - at least amongst fans. Critically only TWOK is rated in any way shape or form whatsoever.
I voted the same, and mostly agree. Concerning movies that are critically rated, I'd argue that Star Trek: First Contact was rather well received among critics when it was released, although it doesn't seem to have had the lasting power of Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan in critical memory.
^ But the thread is about over-rated, not good movies. And TVH is held in much higher esteem than TFF.
Looking for me?
Seconded. I don't like TVH and I don't get why it's so popular. It's just a silly 80s comedy, and not one of the better ones. And the SAVE THE WHALES message couldn't be more hamfisted.I would say TVH. It always strikes me as a ham and cheese fest, what with the bad humour.
First Contact by a wide margin for me. It's a tolerable action flick with very little to resemble TNG in most places. The Borg Queen makes no sense at all, and I never really got into the whole "The Picard and Data Show" aspects of the TNG movies.
I think it's the humor that most people like. i've never really heard much praise for the plot or the message. Mainly it's the humor and character interacts that's cited.Seconded.
