The most moving episode of DS9?

The pilot episode "Emissary" Introducing myself to Benjamin Sisko and his personal story of him grieving the death of his wife Jennifer and having to raise his son by himself. Reluctant to take this mission by the edge of the frontier, that was completely forgotten by Season 4, he went face to face with the person he felt responsible for his wife's death and there's no question the anger he had towards that man. Later getting consumed by the wormhole and making first contact with the aliens within it; he gauges into his first meeting with Jennifer and explaining the concept of linear time. His recollection of his late wife and events that followed moved me because the aliens were making him understand he was not linear, he couldn't move on from the past and his pain and loss was so deep he couldn't let go. The conclusion was heartfelt & it open the door for him to be a new man. A space, quasi-spiritual cleansing of his soul, this was the drinking of the elixir for my favorite Deep Space Nine character, and when he returned from the Wormhole he became the Emissary. For people who had suffered loss, and despair and being a figure who can take on anything.

The Visitor is too emotional. I can’t watch it again. Paper Moon is so good with Actors playing Nog and Vic both turning in spectacular performance. I found Children of Time to be extremely touching and the fact that this was the episode where Kira learned of Odo’s feelings was a perfect subplot. Of course, that final scene with Kira and Jake was beyond touching.

"Duet", "For the Uniform", and "Paradise" for me instantly come to mind and never get boring with rewtach. The one where Garak tortures Odo is an honorable mention too.

As for fan-favorite "The Visitor", it definitely works great on initial viewing (even with the Treknobabble), but plot problems become too apparent in later viewings. The guest star of the week not even calling Federation Mental Health department after listening to a person who comes across as an old manic depressive schizophrenic talk about wanting to commit suicide because her sees images of his dad under conditions she or most wouldn't begin to swallow.

Kate, if you had to choose, which episode was the most moving episode to you? 1)The Visitor 2) Paper Moon or 3) Children of Time?

I don’t even have to think about that — “The Visitor” is probably the most emotional episode of Star Trek ever made. So emotional in fact, if I’m rewatching the series I often stall when I reach this episode. Not because I don’t love it—it’s a superb piece of television—but I have to psych myself up for it. I full on ugly-cry ever damn time I watch it.

For me has to be “Move Along Home”.

Simply one of the finest Episodes not just of DS9, not just of Trek, but of all TV ever.

I cannot begin to describe the sheer dread and uncertainty and emotions that came over me when I realized the full scope of what DS9’s crew were facing in the form of what is sure to be one of the most terrifying situations ever put to screen.

So many emotions came over me, intrigue, excitement, sadness, happiness and finally, sweet relief at its conclusion.

It left such an emotional impression on me that I dare never watch it again, lest I once again be overwhelmed.

It’s difficult to even talk about it now.

I wonder if anyone else feels the same way?

This is a joke, right?

This is a joke, right?

Of course not.

I mean I don’t want to get too in depth here, because again it’s really hard to talk about this episode due to it’s emotional impact on me.

But I mean, if I had to pick one moment with an emotional punch that rivals anything “The Visitor” has to offer, it would be this moment here:

(Refusing to watch is futile...)

I liked the scene because it does introduce a strong sense of weird , alien aloofness and does precisely what it's supposed to do and well. Despite being a bottle show.

Starship Down - for the scene when Kira is helping Sisko through his injuries and her explanations of how difficult it is for her to have her commanding officer as the Emissary in her faith. Touching of her to admit her reverance and vulnerabilities at the same time. And overall, drove home the point of Sisko's embracement of being the Emissary, through Kira's saying how she believed in him.
