Game The Most Disliked Episode Written By Ronald D. Moore

DS9 Season 7: "Take Me Out to the Holosuite" because it’s fun and a nice breath of fresh air during the Dominion war arc. Also, Odo as the umpire is pure gold.

DS9 Season 7: "Strange Bedfellows"(written)

I'll save Strange Bedfellows next. The scene where Worf snaps Weyoun's neck was brilliant, as Damar just laughs at it all, and then places his resources with the Federation.

Kira's talk with Kai Winn was a fascinating insight into Winn.

Saving "WALTZ".

I thought Dukat's story went through a natural progression. Him and Sisko together for an entire episode, no matter what someone may think of Dukat's storyline, is just great acting and electric.

Not sure it's the best of the lot, but I'll save DS9 Season 6: "Valiant" .

A gripping story about a bunch of cadets that have been told they were the very best- and perhaps they were- but because of that end up trying to walk in shoes simply too large for them, because they weren't quite mature enough yet to handle the realities of warfare (then again, is anyone ever, really?).

I didn't realise that The Die is Cast was on the list so that's an easy save. Part 2 of one my favourite DS9 stories. It's all very tense and fast paced.

Odo revealing to Garak that he wants to return home to his people was a defining moment for Odo's character.

Saving Generations….I’ve read that Moore said “Trek is…an uncomfortable fit to the big screen…. though I did two of them. I thought First Contact was a really good film, Generations not so much.” I know it has plot holes, but also many wonderfully memorable scenes.

The Search Part I. She's lean, she's mean, she's fast and maneuverable and blows Jem'Hadar fighters to bits with one phaser barrage, and she makes her debut in this episode. She's Captain Sisko's pimp h... I mean, the Defiant!

Paradise Lost is another great conclusion to a great two-parter. The scene where 'O'Brien' comes and talks to Sisko about the fact there were only a handful of changelings on Earth is chilling.

"YOU ARE CORDIALLY INVITED" should have been saved already.

It's a fun episode, exactly what the show needed after the 6 part arc. DS9 knew balance better than any show in the franchise.

And I love Martok sharing his wisdom with Worf on the Defiant. The man can make any dialogue work.

DS9 Season 5: "Looking for par'Mach in All the Wrong Places" another fun episode. I like Dax and Worf as a couple, and this is where it began. The scene at the end when everyone's bruised and battered, coupled with Bashir's reaction, is great.

I love the way they tell the story in Rules of Engagement. It makes it all the more memorable - in particular, I love Sisko chewing out Worf at the end. He was always fun when he had problems with someone.

Saving "SONS OF MOGH".

Heartbreaking, great episode. Worf's final words at the end... you can tell it hurts him to the core.

Chain of Command featured an intriguing plot, and introduced us to a character who was definitely not perfect, but not as bad as he's often made out to be: Captain Edward Jellico.

Data's subplot had some good shock moments...

But as a Troi story (or subplot, at least) it was phenomenal. True - not everyone passes on a first test, though while 14 times is a trifle excessive - even Arnold J Rimmer wouldn't have continued by then. That aside, one can still build skill and know when to bringing in others and the episode nimbly approaches this nuance. That said, giving more time doesn't work if the warp core is going to breach in 5 minutes like how it did every in third episode season 7...

Troi's realization of "to the ship" is awesome. Riker gives a clue, but without giving away the goodies - nice touch. She also sorta did this in "Disaster", with her duty to the ship, even though so had Ro - albeit from a different perspective, of which Troi admitted Ro had a valid point and could have been right (their double-act made "Disaster" really good, too)...

...but I'm still amazed Troi didn't sense anything from her Imzadi at the time. That's okay, he probably knew how to shield his mind from her, or wore a big pointy hat made out of aluminium foil...

The wallpaper music isn't often grating either.

And as much as "ODN" was one hell of an in-joke, the way they play and act it out with such sincerity has a certain style and allows the wit to work on its own level, without interfering with the universe of the ship and lets "ODN" have its own in-universe meaning other than "Obviously Does Nothing" (:guffaw::guffaw::guffaw::guffaw:) too.

Change of Heart is a good Worf/Dax episode, though in hindsight it would have made a much better exit for Jadzia than her dodgy death at Dukat's hands.

I can't believe "THE DARKNESS AND THE LIGHT" is still here. Not anymore.

Great Kira story, and her last scene was superb. As always, Nana Visitor brought her A+ game.

Barrel scrapings these often be, but

TNG Season 6: "Descent, Part I" (teleplay)

The return of the Borg builds up what was started in "I, Borg" rather nicely. Nitpicks aside, the makers were wise in not having a whiz-bang big battle so quick after TBOBW, which in turn expands on the monsters' lore and gives more to do with them and without wearing them out. This helps "Descent" feel more natural for its own whiz-bang moments, of which many were a decent shock at the time.

Pt 1 is infinitely stronger than pt 2...

Lore's return makes for a nice surprise, if not small-universe-syndrome, but pt 2 - despite its issues - does give a good explanation as to how he got involved in the fracas...

I remember from back in the day that Lore was an allegory for a political figure. I won't say which one because they were wrong, or at least not substantial in their claims. Indeed, others become apparent, even if wholly unintentional. Either way, a basic fact still remains that groups of people can still do more positive things than individuals can. See Doctor Who's "An Unearthly Child", parts two through four, if you're able to stay awake from them, to see the moral of that story. Of course, all this should be folding into pt 2 of "Descent" and is one of the few good points about that season 7 opener...

Don't ask how Troi can gawk at an inorganic constructed computer and sense organic, genuine emotion. Spock always had a better answer for that anyway...

The wallpaper muzak for this episode was incredibly underwhelming, never mind this is about THE BORG. Flat wallpaper music isn't going to begin to work. To compare: If you wander down any given rural highway in a truck and collect a couple dozen deer for no reason, hightail them to a large pig farm, drop the deer down in that farm's huge hole in the one corner over yonder - you know, the one that's full of what looks like mud but is really something else..., feed said deer a few cans of beans and broccoli, and finally wait half an hour or so, the resultant symphony of crude noises (and smells!!) is still far more melodic, more soulful, and far less annoying, than the incidental music in most of TNG 5-7 combined (or for any given episode, most are just as bad). But by this point, TNG was fizzling out and DS9 had a whole universe to build on - and in ways TNG could not.
