Both stories were excellent. We got more education about the Jem'Hadar. And we got a fantastic story of Kira realizing she is becoming a collaborator, and gating her mirror image as she realizes it. Subtle touches really shined through here. I think this is the best of that 6 part arc.

Two come to mind, but I'm in a more philosophical mood right now:

TNG Season 5: "The Next Phase"(written)​

The philosophical bent and extraordinarily good acting (and the mystery!!) more than make up for the obvious plot holes of selective gravity and the rest of the phasing inconsistencies. Which - yes - still knocks it down a point, but if the rest of the episode can carry what the nitpicks let down it's not an issue and far easier to roll along with. And, as with all forms of art, different people will take it differently and I won't criticize those who bring it up because, yup, they have a valid point and it detracted their enjoyment of the episode more.

But what I really liked: The discussion of death, Romulan treachery making a robust return, Ro and Geordi being the perfect foils for both the situation and how they interact with it (and each other), the ideal of phasing being used to exemplary effect in a season seven episode, and so on... oh, and anything with Data. That really makes up for it all and then some.

This episode rules.

Good grief, even the incidental music - a general sore spot for seasons 5 through 7 - actually complements the piece and adds to the whole; it isn't the same old generic soul-sapping wallpaper muzak of the "farting frog" sort that clobbered way too many of latter-era TNG. Even the greatness of "Powerplay" was let down by crap music, but thankfully the tone and acting and direction made up for noise that one would otherwise guffaw really loudly at.

"The Next Phase" gets everything right where it counted the most. It's what TNG needed. Even with the selective physics-bending. The script knew what to counteract the obvious with. And it was right.

[Qonundrum]

The Bonding. His first episode and what a circuitous route the script had from inception to production. TV worked so differently back then, but without this script then it's possible there are whole shows that wouldn't exist today.

I didn't care for that episode initially, but in later re-watches I grew to love it. Especially Worf's scenes. But it is a powerful episode, and perhaps one younger viewers might not click with on initial viewing.

 

[Farscape One]

Now is the time to save my most watched episode in the franchise... "OUR MAN BASHIR".

A James Bond homage, on DS9? Highlighting Garak? GOLD PRESSED LATINUM!

(Side note: screw you MGM, for writing that unpleasant letter threatening legal action if DS9 ever did it again! You robbed us of any more awesome, fun episodes like this! Do you not know the meaning of the word 'homage'? It was a tribute, you asshats!)

A retconned backstory for Riker that actually fits! Cat-and-mouse inside an asteroid! The Battle of Algeron that explains why the Federation didn't pursue cloaking technology any longer!

Not much to say but it was not just one of season 7's better rides, it stands up next to some of TNG's best.

Great exit for Bareil, but really sad. My wife brought up the fact his final resting pose looked like he had a pope-like hat on his head, which I had never noticed in all my rewatches. It fits because Bareil truly was a good man who only wanted to serve his people.
