The Most Disliked Episode of VGR, Season 2: 2021 Edition...

Farscape One

This is a twist on a game that is played here, which I thoroughly enjoyed.

Here's the game. The basic idea is your standard elimination game. I'll provide a list of the episodes for each season and you need to eliminate your most favorite or the one you deem the 'best.' Please provide an EXPLANATION for why you are eliminating your choice and be sure to copy and paste the list with your choice removed. Finally, leave at least 2 eliminations by other posters before you eliminate another episode.

No tactical voting! You cannot remove an episode because you feel they would threaten your preferred episode's chance to win. Pretty simple. Enjoy!

Hall of Champions (or Failures?)
2011 - "THE FIGHT"
2018 - "FAVORITE SON"
2019 - "SPIRIT FOLK"

Season 2 of VOYAGER was a better season than a lot of people say. There are a number of great ones here, and though the Kazon were a poor choice to use for an ongoing arc, at least the writers DID an arc this season, which was something this series was ripe for... even more so than DS9, simply due to the premise of this show. A shame there were very few arcs in VOYAGER.

My first save of this season will actually be one that was produced for season 1..."PROJECTIONS".

This is definitely a highlight, as it not only focuses entirely on The Doctor, which casting Robert Picardo was one of the best casting decisions of the franchise, but has Jonathan Frakes directing in his usual very high quality. The fact that this is VOYAGER's version of "Frame of Mind" doesn't take away from it at all. (The irony is not lost on me that it is Frakes who directs this version. I might go so far as to say this succeeds because of that fact.) In fact, if Braga didn't write this one, it could have been a really bad one. But it all works perfectly, right down to bringing in Barclay.

I'll start with "THE 37's", I liked the whole Amelia Earhart thing, even if it's not particularly original, plus I liked the guest actors. They played their part well.

MELD has got to be saved. It's not your typical murder mystery, there's a great balance of entertainment with philosophical ideas being juggled, a great mix of characters, a new take on Betazoids that one-ups Tam Elbron's condition too, Tim Russ excels in this and wholly steals the show in some key scenes... never mind the infamous scene where the show's makers must be trolling the audience involving Neelix and a pair of hands... definitely one of VOY's all-time greats, if not nearly-so.

On top of everything else, I forgot how great the direction and camerawork were.

Definitely check this episode out!!

What's left to potentially be strangled like Neelix:

"MELD" is one of my absolute favorites of early VOYAGER for many of the same reasons you gave.

My next save is "DEATH WISH". The best Q episode on this series by far, it also had a great message about life having meaning.

Maybe I'm still feeling residual Halloween -- "Persistence Of Vision." Spooky! I think I'm literally the only one who liked the Gothic holo-novel. I also love Kes saving the ship in this one, and the creepy attitude from the alien antagonist at the end.

"TUVIX" because, even though I hate the ending, (with everyone looking indifferent while poor Tuvix was taken away to his death.) I still think it was an interesting dilemma and it sparks debate, which is never a bad thing.

I also loved "THE THAW", and "PERSISTENCE OF VISION" was awesome because there was still a mystery at the end. We need more mystery endings like that in the franchise... makes it more believable.

My next save is "MANEUVERS". This was a fantastic cat and mouse episode. Loved it from start to finish.

A lot of great episodes in this season.

So I will save my all-time favorite Voyager episode which is: Cold Fire!

A spooky, exciting episode in which Kes is tempted by evil forces but overcome them and save the ship. Can it be better? :techman:

And thanks to those who saved Persistence Of Vision, Projections and The Thaw! Other great favorite episodes of mine. I would have hated to see the nice Clown becoming a least favorite. :)

I like The Clown because he reminds me of Iron Maiden singer Bruce Dickinson. Even his manners are similar. "Naughty, naughty, we have to do something about it!" :techman:

"Lifesigns" is a rare successful Trek ROTW. The Doctor and Danara are a pairing that really make sense, in delightfully weird Star Trek way. I love their holodeck date in a classic car to Mars, while "I Only Have Eyes For You" plays. On one level, it makes no sense -- but the truth is they nail the execution of that scene so perfectly it doesn't matter.

I'm going to save "Dreadnought". The concept is good, the story is good, the performances are good. Perfectly solid story. Kind of wish we'd seen more of the dreadnoughts in the Dominion War on Deep Space Nine though.

Deadlock is a good episode for seeing the crew in a tense situation, where everything going to hell. Well for one ship anyway!

The ending is a bit too easy but it doesn't totally take away from the episode.

Twisted may have had its issues, but it was a premise right out of a nightmare, not knowing what's where anymore. And the scene near the end was heartwarming.

"Prototype" The silly robots only work because it's a Torres episode. Roxann Dawson can make anything land! Are there any failed Torres episodes? None come to mind. Some bad scripts maybe, but they always improbably work on screen anyway. She was so great in that part!

Saving "RESISTANCE". While the concept is rather mundane, Joel Grey's performance completely outshines any script issues. Kate Mulgrew was equally impressive and they had great acting chemistry together.

I'll save Initiations next. The Kazon weren't the most imaginative species that VOY came up with during their run. but occasionally they did something good with them. Aron Eisenberg does well here as well.
