The Most Disliked Episode of PICARD, 2023 Edition - Season 2...

Welcome to our bi-yearly 'Most Disliked Episode' games! Now that the 'Least Disliked Episode' games hosted by BlueStuff (who inspired me to create these games, so thank you very much for paving the way) have concluded, we can begin the opposite side of that coin.

Here's the game. The basic idea is your standard elimination game. I'll provide a list of the episodes for each season and you need to eliminate your most favorite or the one you deem the 'best.' Please provide an EXPLANATION for why you are eliminating your choice and be sure to copy and paste the list with your choice removed. Finally, leave at least 2 eliminations by other posters before you eliminate another episode.

No tactical voting! You cannot remove an episode because you feel they would threaten your preferred episode's chance to win. Pretty simple. Enjoy!

PICARD season 2... what an unmitigated disaster of a season. For me, without question, this is the WORST season in the entire franchise.

Which is so incredibly surprising given how great the first episode is, which is why "The Star Gazer" is easily my first (and possibly only) save.

This episode really set a high bar, which might be part of why the rest of the season is just so bad.

"Penance" -- it a dropped a bit, but not too much in quality. The alt-Borg Queen was legit cool. I'd argue it's still better than anything in PS1.

"Farewell", all the way. When Picard hugged Q, I got more than a little misty-eyed. And Elinor's return and Picard's reunion with Laris... Picard went to some dark places, but it tried to leave us in the light.

I love this season! I always say I don't think I've ever seen another season of television with more visible construction scars (soooo much ADR!), but somehow through it all it still landed.

I'll start with "Assimilation." To my great surprise, Annie Wersching ended up being my favorite Borg Queen actress.

[Seven of Five]

This season is so much worse than S1, and it's a shame. It starts well enough, but then they spent far too much time in the past, and the only interesting part throughout the season was the scenes with Jurati and the Borg Queen, and some of Q's bits.

All the remaining episodes blur together, so I'm using summaries of episodes, and my dodgy memory to inspire me.

I'll go with the somewhat average Hide and Seek because it has the wonderful Jay Karnes in it, who was The Sheild's Dutch.

You took "Mercy" off the list, which I think is what you meant, since Jay Karnes isn't in "Hide And Seek" but is in "Mercy."

Funnily enough, as (apparently) the #1 fan of Picard Season 2, "Mercy" is the one episode I found to be a bust. I can't stand the illogic of that FBI detour with Picard & Guinan in custody, and Q just walking in as an FBI Agent (at a point when he no longer had his powers? what I really wanted was the cutaway of Q figuring out how to ride the bus in order to get there)

I'll save "Watcher" next. I thought they did a particularly good job with the LA location shooting in that one.

Hide and Seek is my last save. Say what you want about the revelation about Picard's past, it certainly wasn't boring. Or light on action.

I'll let Monsters be the big fat loser because although it was an interesting idea to explore Picard's troubled past, that arc was poorly executed.
