The Most Disliked Episode of ENT, 2023 Edition - Season 1...

I’m removing Terra Nova. The resolution was “a very lucky happenstance” based but I really liked the premise. The idea that “aliens” could be humans adapted to a different environment was a truly interesting one to me. I feel like it also made use of Enterprise’s placement in the time line—taking advantage of the lack of fast communication and transport during humanity’s earliest forays into the big bad vast unknown.

Saving "ACQUISITION" because it is FUN! The Ferengi are played well, Archer plays them well, and Trip saves the day (just about) in his undercrackers!

Detained is an intriguing social commentary, and Dean Stockwell was awesome in everything he touched so I have to save it.

Okay, now these are just bad episodes.

I absolutely refuse to vote for any episode that dealt with the Temporal Cold War. And I hate "FUSION" because it made Archer look really bad. (He didn't even have that guy arrested?! After he basically raped T'Pol?! That makes him look like a leader that doesn't defend his crew.)

So my final vote for this season is "OASIS".

DS9 did a much better version of this one (that also centered on a character played by Auberjonois), but at least Rene Auberjonois was in it. You never went wrong casting him.

I'm saving "FUSION" because of the Tucker and Kov storyline - I think it's quite sweet. And because it's not TCW-related.

Shockwave is just dumb... 3000+ people die and history is apparently unaffected. So I'll save Cold Front.

SHOCKWAVE is the "victor".

And "SHOCKWAVE" wins season 1. Does it send a shockwave down your spine that this was the winner? (For me personally... no. )

Fun fact: this is the first time "TERRA NOVA" did not win or was runner up for this season. Had it achieved this, it would have been only the 5th episode in the franchise to do this.

(The B story with Quark is fun, and this introduced the franchise to the awesome Jeffrey Combs. But it just isn't enough to save this episode. And clearly enough people agree.)

I hate Meridian.

Now as much as TCW was a pointless addition to the show, back when I was watching it, I thought both Cold Front and Shockwave (I) were pretty entertaining. Episodes like Unexpected, Terra Nova, Acquisition, Rogue Planet, and parts of Fusion were my bottom five.

Obviously, different strokes for different folks.
