The most disliked episode of DS9 - Part Seven

Chrysalis
Prodigal Daughter
The Emperor's New Cloak
Penumbra
Til Death Do Us Part
Extreme Measures

"When It Rains..." for upping the ante in the tense final arc. Man, what I wouldn't give for VOY and ENT to have had 'finales' this lengthy, too.

Saving Afterimage. A really touching episode that made me love Ezri as a character.

My hero. It's probably my all-time favorite DS9 ep...or at least it's in the top five.

Now, down to bid-ness....

Chrysalis
The Emperor's New Cloak
Penumbra
Til Death Do Us Part
Extreme Measures

I saved Prodigal Daughter. Nice to see Ezri caught in a Shakesperian tragedy, of sorts. Her Shindler-type "I should have done more" speech at the end is perfect.

And of course, her choice of civvies show her off quite nicely....

The Emperor's New Cloak
Penumbra
Til Death Do Us Part
Extreme Measures

Chrysalis, because it is actually one of the best one-off 'romance' episodes of Trek, exactly because, for once, it completely recognizes and points out Bashir's immaturity and stupid relationship behavior. Sarina's story is pretty sad, and I love the moment with O'Brien going "um...." and not knowing whether to say what he thinks or not.
And I assume that the Final Chapter episodes, except Extreme Measures, will get saved by someone else anyway.

The Emperor's New Cloak
Penumbra
Extreme Measures

"Til Death Do Us Part" because... well, frankly for the same reasons others have saved the Final Chapter episodes.

The Emperor's New Cloak
Penumbra

Extreme Measures: The representation of Sloanes mind was pretty poor but I liked the theme of mates breaking the rules, taking chances for each other.

I'm glad someone saved it. I consider it the weakest link in the Final Chapter but still a passable episode. Now I just hope "Penumba" doesn't somehow wind up voted the worst.

Honestly though, there isn't a single episode from the seventh season I'd score lower than two-and-a-half stars except "The Emperor's New Cloak", which is definitely two stars and not less.

I know between that one and sometimes "Prodigal Daughter" I'm speaking a minority line here, but that's how I feel!

This is a good outcome. The Emperor's New Cloak is one of the worst episodes of DS9 and the absolute low point of the MU.

I'm just shocked that Penumbra lasted so long. I really like S7, but there's definitely worse episodes.

Weird things happen in this contest. I saved like half the Final Chapter episodes myself because I was concerned some finale-hater would try to orchestrate their fall.

The thing about that big final arc is that since there are a bunch of episodes dedicated to it people sometimes seem to view many of them as weaker individually than I personally believe they are, and instead focus on everything else.

Well it's not a shock which episode won or rather lost this round. It's definatly one of the weaker episodes of the series and one of the weaker MU episodes.

I would agree that it's the weakest Mirror Universe episode but I think I like it a good bit more than DevilEyes. Ridiculous though it may be, I still prefer it to somewhere in the vicinity of fifteen or so previous episodes.

This is why I shouldn't sleep! How did Penumbra fall into the bottom 2!

I agree that Emperor's New Cloak is the worst of the season - unfortunately by this point the Mirror Universe had become a bad joke. It's the only real turkey of the year though. I didn't like Prodigal Daughter either, and I thought that Covenant was a bit boring and went against the grain of Dukat's character. Oh yeah, Extreme Measure was a big letdown. None of these were as bad as 'Cloak' though.

See, my opinions on this one are kind of rare. You just listed pretty much all the episodes a lot of fans would agree are at the bottom of the (overall great) yardstick here but I happe to like 'em all quite a bit!

I saved Chrysalis instead of the remaining Final Chapter episodes because it has its haters and I was afraid that someone would save vote it the worst and save The Emperor's New Cloak instead. I didn't think this could ever happen with any of the Final Chapter episodes.

I probably would have had Extreme Measures as the loser. The Emperor's New Cloak is stupid, sure, but it was just a fluff episode, so it can be easily ignored. Extreme Measures, was not just bad, it was horribly disappointing, and ground the whole final 10 hours of the series to a sudden halt. That was a far greater sin than some silly MU episode.

I will say, though the ep itself was pretty...not-too-deep, I did like the characters of Mirror Brunt and Mirror Ezri. It's a shame--they were pretty well crafted, the high points in an otherwise...

And it was a nice moment when Rom first drives Mirror Garak to the breaking point, leaving the Cardassian slowly curling his hand into a fist...and slowly lowering it, saying, "I'm...SORRY...!!!"

Yeah, DevilEyes, "Chrysalis" is pretty underrated. As I've stated before I'm usually not a big fan of romance-of-the-week stories but that one was surprisingly good. And Bashir's love interest wasn't completely out-of-left-field, either -- it was a character we'd seen before. And personally, someone I'd already found to be interesting.
