The Mirror War

I haven't read the DC run, but I really liked Early Voyages and Starfleet Academy from Marvel. And I have enjoyed some of the IDW books like the Alien Spotlights, Captain's Table or Logs (can't remember which right now and don't feel like looking it up), Hive, Blood Will Tell, some of the Mirror books they've done, some of the Kelvin stories that come to mind right off. I've liked a lot of the artwork, especially many of the covers. There's other things IDW has done as well that I've enjoyed, so I think for the most part I've been okay with their stewardship, but the Mirror War is more a miss than homerun for me.

It's nice to see DS9 get some attention, but I've noted that standards have slipped in regards to oversight from the Paramount/CBS side since Paula Block retired.

IDW did a lot better in the beginning when they were more focused on short term storytelling like the Alien Spotlights and Captain's Log series. Between Year Five and this series (and various one-shot tie-ins) they seem to be going for quantity over quality.

Also, in the Sisko One Shot, there was clearly some miscommunication between the writer and artist since the half Cardassian guy looked more like a half Klingon. And was he supposed to be some kind of Jake Sisko analogue?

A few other weird things: it's been awhile since I've seen the DS9 MU episodes but wasn't the MU Defiant created and used by the rebels? Instead it looks like here Sisko has it while he's still working for the Intendant. And was that supposed to be Prime Universe Kira on the last page? Also shout out to MU Garak for wearing his James Bond Holosuite tuxedo at the party.

You're right -- it was created by the rebellion based on plans stolen from the Prime timeline. So there's no way it would've existed before "Through the Looking Glass," let alone before "Crossover."
