Not to mention the sneaky way of using models for plus-size clothing when they are either clearly not plus-size, or if so, it's just the 1x range. It's a crapshoot as to what will actually fit. And women aren't necessarily symmetrical. Plus-size does NOT mean you're endowed like Dolly Parton.

I kind of feel sizes have changed in general, perhaps due to changes in how they're manufactured, so it definitely is a crapshoot. I find that I can't simply buy the same size between different brands as it's not a guarantee that they'll fit. For instance, a size large of pants from one brand will fit well, but another will either be too big or too small, or the proportions will be wrong.

see the stupid is continuing unabatted from the ndp with the interim leader saying they'll vote against the throne speed because there wasn't anything in their priority areas.

(original article has been updated after the speech was accepted without a recorded voted).

Now it's expect the tories would vote against it because that's what they would do but the with the liberals the ndp has a chance with govt that would care about some of those issues.

I think had the throne speech been rejected and we went back to the polls what's left of the ndp would be wiped out and the liberals would wind up with majority because the voters would be utterly pissed at having another election.

In 2011 the liberals and the ndp combined to break down harper's minority govt and boy did that blow up in their faces.

My Dad got to meet him and several other astronauts. My Dad at the time had been working at our local science centre and was in charge of the astronomy/space department and had conceived a solar observatory for the science centre, and on Marc Garneau's visit, he was able to show him how it worked.

Reasons? (sincere question, not challenging)

Like I said, I haven't actually read the bill itself, but I have read about it, and from legitimate news sources, too, not just internet randos. So I am trusting the information is accurate, but if it turns out to be not, please know that there was no intent on my part to deceive.

From what I understand, the bill contains provisions that impacts the privacy rights of Canadians, such as making much easier for Canada Post to legally open/read your mail. The bill also contains provisions to increase police powers, which they have been asking for for years, such as the ability to get data related to your IP address without a warrant. They will also be allowed to ask online service providers to release your personal data voluntarily (ie- again without a warrant), and it protects the service providers from being sued if they do so. It expands the ability for our intelligence agencies to share information with the US. Additionally, it supposedly gives CBSA new search & seizure powers, although I have been having difficulty finding details on what that means, exactly. Oh, and apparently it would make it illegal for online service providers to publicly disclose any information regarding vulnerabilities that could lead to data breaches?

I know that immigration is a sensitive issue right now. Personally, I am still a strong believer in welcoming refugees into our country, although I know that is not as popular an opinion as it once was. On that front, the bill will make it almost impossible for asylum seekers that have been here for more than a year to have their cases heard, which means most of them will be deported, potentially back into dangerous situations. It also gives the federal government the new power of the ability to "mass cancel" previous issued immigration papers. I don't know the full details on this, but anytime you're doing something en masse, you're probably not looking at the individual situations, so this seems like it could lead to a lot of bad outcomes for a lot of people.

Basically, I feel that most of the provisions in this bill are things that wouldn't be out of place in a bill introduced by the Conservatives. Admittedly, I am probably more on the left of the political spectrum, but Carney seems to be moving the party more rightward than I am personally comfortable with, hence my disappointment. Everybody's individual mileage may vary.

Ah, okay. Thanks.

FWIW, I voted Green this time. I refuse to vote Reformacon, voting Liberal is pointless in this region of Alberta (not that I've voted Liberal since Chretien was PM), and the NDP candidate didn't bother putting any information about him/herself anywhere. I was pleased to see the Green candidate was someone who would actually make a good NDP candidate if he were to run provincially. He had lots of information available, so he got my vote.

So, less privacy? If it gets too intrusive we can always do a rerun of the "Tell Vic Everything" movement.

That was back when Vic Toews was part of Harper's cabinet and accusing everyone who objected to having their privacy violated as being "on the side of the child molesters."

So someone started a "Tell Vic Everything" movement. Toews' snailmail, phone messages, and email were flooded with messages from ordinary Canadians, telling him every minuscule thing they'd done, multiple times a day.

"Dear Vic, I thought you'd like to know that I just ate a peanut butter sandwich." "Dear Vic, I just watched Family Feud." "Dear Vic, I just sneezed."

It didn't take long for him to change his mind about the bill he wanted passed.
