That's kind of sad as it's also one of the oldest companies in North America still in existence.

my wife's comment this morning is they've been in trouble for years and part of the problem is they're so expensive to shop at.
It would of course help if they were in more locations. I don't think there are any in Northern Ontario, which is ironic given Northern Ontario is closer in proximity to the actual Bay itself. So of course because we don't have any here, we also didn't get the Zellers popups.
I think The Bay as a company has some advantage of having a long history that could be leveraged in a reboot, because should the physical stores close, I think they'd be in a good position to pivot to being a Canadian online store ala Amazon. We really need a Canadian equivalent.

Yeah, that's a great update. I had seen a CBC interview earlier where he reminisced, and when asked if he'd been contacted to do an update, he'd said he hadn't been approached. And that was just a few weeks ago.

probably a major oh shit factor for the tories.
modelling at 338canada has them at 156 seats to the liberals with 143 and the NDP being pretty much wiped out dropping to just 14 seats.

I’m on vacation in Mexico right now but we tuned into CBC to see a few of the speeches. I’ve never had any interest in watching leadership conventions of any party, but I guess it’s a sign of the times that both my wife and I were quite interested in what they had to say this time around.

Regarding the stuff about The Bay, I'm only slightly bothered about it, mainly because half the time I even go into The Bay in my area is because going through it is a shortcut to get to Chapter, or I guess that's now called Indigo. That is, The Bay is attached to a mall with Chapters/Indigo located in another spot on the mall's property that is easiest accessed outside The Bay's entrance.
Honestly, I'm not too shocked people don't shop at The Bay, as at least where I live, they have horrible customer service. Back around 2018 or so I went there looking for a pair of pants, couldn't find one in my size (46 waist). I asked one of their staff who rather snootily told me "at that size, you should be going to a Big and Tall store." I now get pants at Mark's Work Warehouse.

Speaking of clothes shopping, I'm quite difficult to shop for, and part of the problem is that a lot of things have trended towards 'slim fit' or 'contour fit' styles. I don't consider myself big, but even when I manage to find the right sizes, they don't always necessarily flow correctly and are sometimes tighter in places.
@The Wormhole I've been having troubles of late finding what I want at Mark's.
I find going for something that says "Classic Fit" is a good bet that it should fit properly. As in not too tight or anything.
Admittedly, it can be a bit of a crapshoot at times, I often check their website in advance to see which store will have what I'm looking for. Fortunately there are three stores which are relatively convenient for me to get to, so there's usually a good chance one of them will have what I'm after. Unfortunately, the one that's most convenient to get to for me (right next door to my workplace) hardly ever has what I want.
Yeah, that's what I try to look for, though it seems stores carry less of those and way more of the 'slim fit'. I tend to also have trouble finding footwear. I wear size 7's, and stores tend to carry size 9's onwards.
