I'm surprised CBC doesn't have more vintage shows on it Gem streaming service. There are hundreds of comedy and variety shows from my childhood and teens I'd love to rewatch, Beachcombers being just one. RIP Jesse.
Sometimes they show The Beachcombers on the channel dedicated to indigenous programming. APN, I think.I'm surprised CBC doesn't have more vintage shows on it Gem streaming service. Heads-up, @Mr. Laser Beam :
Government of Canada is re-establishing mandatory random testing offsite of airports for air travellers
I don't know if this helps, but I did some searching, and that show is apparently available on the free (ad-supported) streaming service Tubi. Tubi is, I believe, available in Canada, but I've never used it, so I don't know if this particular show is available to Canadians or geolocked to the US or something.
It is also apparently available on Roku in Canada, but that only helps if you have Roku hardware.
Later-season ones, after most of my favorite characters had either been written off due to the actor/actress dying, or because the actor/actress left the show. The only ones left who I liked were Constable Constable and Relic. There are also episodes on Youtube.

For some strange reason I missed any announcement that this youtube channel even existed. Pretty piss-poor excuse if you don't advertise something and then whine that no one was interested.and got the message back that people just didn't watch enough for them to continue.

We're paying for Gem, put it all there, advertise it, fans will show up.
Ohhh! Just got an email from CRA, they're paying me for Climate Action!
A few months ago I re-watched the Showtime series of The Borgias (there are several Canadian actors in it).For some strange reason I missed any announcement that this youtube channel even existed. Pretty piss-poor excuse if you don't advertise something and then whine that no one was interested.

There's always been some kind of deal between CBC and BBC, I think back when I was a kid BBC was counted as Canadian content.A few months ago I re-watched the Showtime series of The Borgias (there are several Canadian actors in it).
What baffles me is why they had Downton Abbey on offer. I can't think of any Canadian connection to that show unless you count the subplot in which a Canadian soldier shows up at Downton during WWI, claiming to be Cousin Patrick (the Crawley cousin Mary was originally supposed to marry) who didn't die on the Titanic after all, but lost his memory and only recently recovered it. Patrick claimed that he ended up in Canada and that's why he was wounded in France.

ETA: $466! Wisely invested I could get 2 bucks a month with that!!
BMO has some nice ETFs that pay monthly @ an annual rate of 4-8%, I split my loose change among a few of them. In a TSFA self-directed no-fee it's a nice stable return for an old fart like me.
lucky bugger.
We only got $293.
But will come in handy. Want to boost the money going in the wife's Registered Disabiltiy Savings Plan (we put in 5K, get 10.5K from the feds).
Nice return but a bit of a strain and I suspect the vast majority of people with an RDSP don't get anywhere near that. Even in the first 10 years when you can get 10k for putting in 3.5K in can be hard.
Much of what's in there has gone in there in time the wife has been working but plan is by the time her boss is up for re-election in 2026 we'll have and over 5 figure amount. Not as nice as a lifetime's worth but will help down the track and we have to start taking out before she turns 60 (so have another 10.5 years).
have to wonder about the intelligence of some of these freedom convoy types.
Was downtown this afternoon with the wife and one seem to be do circles in his big black truck with the word "freedom" on the side, flags waving and fishing poles on the back.
Seem to be doing a good job of turning cash into carbon pollution and probably making his truck engine unhappy as I could continually hear the turbo whistling as it came off boost.

Speaking of Canadian media, I've mentioned this before, but I feel it's often woefully under-represented when it comes to older TV shows. We need to do a much better job of making older stuff available. Anything made before the 2000's seem to be sadly unavailable. Good luck finding any DVDs of pretty much anything unless it's recent.
