Spoilers The Mandalorian Season 3

The problem is there is only 8 episodes. 8 episodes that are barely pushing 40 minuets of content. If we had 12 then yeah there is room for fluff. But with 8 episodes the series needs to be focused. Series 2 had the best balance.
^What we have here is an utter failure to recognise that this show is supposed to be mostly "fluff". It's baked into the design. Has from the very beginning.
It's little episodic adventures with threads of a larger plot weaved thorough. It's literally 'Wolf and Cub in Space'. It's not trying to be Game of Thrones. It's under no obligation to satisfy an arbitrary quota of 'epic story arcs', or BS 'Mystery Box' teases.
...and yet here we are already on the verge of retaking Mandalore, and a likely about to run head first into a certain blue skinned Grand Admiral. So as I said; despite all the whining and bleating of the perpetually dismal, the show is still fulfilling both needs. So lighten up, or hush up.

Don't be so bloody patronizing.

Just because I don't think it is as good as season 2 doesn't mean I hate it. I just don't think it is as good as season 2.

Is that what I said? All I did is dismantle a faulty premise.
Look mate, you can dislike something all the live long day, and that's fine. But if you're going to try and pass a preference off as objective fact, you really can't be surprised when people contradict you. So calm down before you strain something, there's a good chap.

I thought this was a fun episode. Shades of a police procedural and the scene at the droid bar was all kinds of cool. Maybe the stuff at the royal court was a bit on the silly side, but even that was made worth it for the bit at the end when Lizzo knights Grogu. And "Lizzo knights Grogu" is a statement I didn't expect to make ever, but my life is all the more enriched for doing so.

I love it when a show can pivot from serious "This is the Way" kind of stuff, to a really fun, "we don't take ourselves too seriously sometimes," kind of episode. While I wouldn't hand out acting trophies to Jack Black or Lizzo, I thought they played the quasi-nobility kind of attitude pretty well. And Christopher Lloyd is just a joy. 10 out of 10 for me.

It was a fun little side adventure that still manages to be a bit politically poignant (with a twinge of edge, even) and the droids' story works as a thematic parallel. And the fight at the end was great.

My only concern that the last two episodes are going to be pretty crammed. Or the season ends on a cliffhanger.

I do wonder if they're intentionally stalling. Like they knew they needed to get season 3 out now so the show wouldn't lose steam, but can't fully commit to the story they want to tell until after Ahsoka.

ETA: And I say this specifically because there's a very strong argument to be made for Sabine still being the true holder of the saber.

... lot of cameos this week.

I feel like I've seen this pattern over and over in fandom, but The Mandalorian seems to have been a particularly egregious example of the episode-by-episode reaction being negative and then the season as a whole in hindsight being lauded (especially going episode-by-episode through the next season).

And quite appropriately in-character too, considering she and Vizla had a nasty run-in with Dooku. ;)

I still haven't watched Clone Wars, so I was kind of hoping for some name-dropping if she had actually run into him. "You know, I met Count Dooku, when I was a kid. He was a real dick."

I feel like "not having it" isn't a good end-run around the "claimed in battle" rule. If Sabine gave it to (or rather, left it in trust of) Bo, and Bo obviously didn't give it willingly to Gideon, either directly or with steps in-between, we can't really go back to her as the last legitimate owner and everything in the last decade has been a mistake (especially since she'd be bitten by the same rule-lawyering; IIRC, didn't she just pick it up off a table?).

A really fun episode. The cameos were a surprise to me, and Lizzo was OK.

Din's loophole for giving the dark saber back to Bo was a little silly, but he might have been worried after Bo's ass kicking of Axe(?)
