Spoilers The Mandalorian Season 3

I thought it was a bit of a clunker, Navarro seemed to have a population of 35, the pirates have one ship and two fighters easily handled by Din and Bo Katan, hell, Teva could probably have handled them himself. The pirate troops seemed to pose zero threat to the Mandalorians. Teva apparently can just fly to Coruscant whenever he wants, is this option open to everyone? How did R5 relay their position? I usually like the Mandalorian for being an easy casual watch but it all felt so small that it was hard to enjoy the straightforward action this week.
Feels like classic Star Wars to me.

I mean come on in the original film we had a space station the size of a small Moon taken out by about one dozen X-Wing and Y-Wing starfighters. ;)

Think we’ll see Pedro’s face this season? Or will it become a bit gimmicky that at least once a season he has to find a reason to remove his helmet?

I personally think there should be three scenes of him without the helmet this season. Season 1 had one helmet-less scene, season 2 had two, so season 3 should have three.

But on a more serious note, I am expecting at least one helmet-less scene, probably in the finale. Maybe in a scene where Din has an epiphany that the Way does not need to be interpreted so literally, and to emphasize the matter he takes the helmet off and says "this is the Way."

Why would it be?
idk, kind of feels like Maverick flying back to Washington to go to the Pentagon to make a request. I always imagined him as part of a small patrol out in the sticks. I get it's a "sounds like it's a you problem" but what else is a good rant for...

Considering the area these rangers seem to cover, I imagine it would not be all that out of line to go back to Coruscant to put in a request in person. I mean we have seen this specific pilot near Navarro and Tatooine, which despite being on major trade routes, are on opposite sides of the galaxy.

Teva strikes me closer to a CAG who can meet with the starfighter command leadership to request resources and provide updates.

That won't happen as long as Pedro Pascal is doing another TV show. I wonder if he's been in the armor at all so far this season, I would guess no.

"The Pentagon"? It was one overworked and slightly apathetic mid-level bureaucrat. It's not like he kicked in Admiral Ackbar's door or anything.
Why would it be?
I mean Dooku rolled up to that planet more than once when he was actively leading a war against it. I get the feeling Coruscant space-traffic control entirely gave up on any kind of meaningful border security centuries ago, and mostly just tries to keep the number of daily low orbit collisions down in the triple digits.

Not exactly that far (more like 45 degrees along the outer rim), but yeah, they're covering a lot of ground for what seems like a few squadrons, maybe a wing's worth of snub fighters and ancient bombers that look to be falling apart at this point. That said they're probably sticking close to the trade routes, so it's not like they're visiting *every* planet or system from the Arkanis sector to the Western Reaches.
All that said, for how much they're clearly overextended; they seem to run into the same Mandalorian a disproportional amount of times. I guess he just can't help but fly shifty . . .

I wasn’t expecting Jack Black to be in this; and as former Imperial as well. :)
Fellow Star Trek alum, Christopher Lloyd as well. I did hear rumors that he was involved in a Star Wars project.

Well, that was one of the worst episodes of TV I've ever seen.

This show has hit a new low. This season is a catastrophe.

Oh and for those not keeping tally, in this episode Bo Katan manages to both win the Darksaber in single combat, and bathe in the Living Waters of the Mines of Mandalore (and lay eyes on an live Mythosaur to boot!) All she has to do is recite the creed, and she's golden. I wonder if that's dawned on her yet.
Din was bested and disarmed by Cyber-Smeagol. Bo Katan took the saber back from them, then used it to slay them. Seems like Elder Wand rules to me . . . from a certain point of view.
*coughs*

Yeah, so anyway, that was certainly a rollercoaster! Probably going to keep the youtube easter egg people busy crimping research from reddit all day. Hope they're all stocked up on red circles and yellow arrows!
  • Pretty sure that ship was another old school miniature on a MC rig. Something about it just felt more physical (for lack of a better word) than the CG ones ever do, even though they've gotten better and better and recreating the aesthetic since RO.
  • Could have sworn it was Mon Calamari from the look of it, so was pleasantly surprised when it turned out to be a Quarren ship. Nice bit of visual world building.
  • On a similar note, we may have our first "not a total cloaca" Quarren on the show! I was beginning to think Favreau had it in for them or something.
    • Side note: yet another 'Agents of SHIELD' alumni on the show! Though you'd be forgiven for not recognising her with the whole tentacle face thing going on . . . also because that wasn't actually her in the make-up, just providing the voice, but still!
  • I did not expect to see Jack Black. If the news of him being on the cast was released prior, I either missed it or forgot about it. If so I'm glad I did since that was a fun surprise, and *of course* he's an ex-Imperial noble. Wouldn't have cast him any other way with that beard!
  • On a similar note, I did actually know Christopher Lloyd was on the show this season, but I still managed to forget until he showed up. I approve. No notes.
  • Seems like Din isn't totally past his droid bias, but at least he's making progress!
  • It's funny how nano-droids only ever show up as part of some nefarious sabotage conspiracy. What are they even supposed to be used for when they're not making people explode or altering droid programs?
  • I wonder him much strife and hassle would have ben saved if Bo had just headbutted Sabine or something a decade ago, and took the sabre from here then? Yes, yes, I know; it matters that she came upon it honourably this time, but still! For all the other Mando clans scoff at the crazy religious zealots with their weird helmet fetish; they don't half cherry pick some odd magical glowstick superstitions themselves!
  • Sir Grogu. That is all.

What… was that?
I wouldn’t go as far as Crewman6 said, but I would say that was the “least best” episode of live action Star Wars for sure IMO.
In a 20-odd season of Clone Wars or Rebels, have some filler episodes, fine, I understand. Even in the 16 ep seasons of The Bad Batch.
But in only an 8 ep run, of a show that had 2.5 years between season 2 & 3, did we really need this?

It felt like one of those Rebels filler episodes with Chopper just messing about for 20 minutes, while you wait for the season finale with Vader to come on.

I have enjoyed this season, but yeah I can see what the pessimists mean by now.

Why must some fans just suck the joy out of everything? Must everything be about the pay-off? The Star Wars galaxy has always been first and foremost a fantasy adventure setting. So yes that means weird random planets run by benevolent fops, star-crossed lovers who happen to also be fish people, a bar for droids that serves only one drink, a nefarious scheme by a Christopher Lee fanboy (ooohhhhhh. I see what they did there!) and a fight not-to-the-death settled by lawyering and dramatic music.

People keep complaining about how the show feels to insular; small galaxy syndrome and all that, and yet when it actually opens up to show a glimpse of the diversity in the galaxy, up comes the hue and cry of the dreaded "filler episode"! Which is of course always nonsense as this episode proved: it resolved the point of tension that's been building since last season's finale and massively advanced the plot. There's just no pleasing some people

Those episodes were always fun, hilarious, and often just the pallet cleansers the audience (and production staff!) needs before heading into all of the heavy shit in the finale . . . oh and would you look at that; there's only two episodes left to go! It's almost like they know what they're doing or something.

Is that LIZZZZZZZO?
Yeah and she cant act for shit. Her performance was jarring. If they are going hire celebs for major camos make sure they can act!

I would not go that far. But its certainly not on par with series 2

The problem is there is only 8 episodes. 8 episodes that are barely pushing 40 minuets of content. If we had 12 then yeah there is room for fluff. But with 8 episodes the series needs to be focused. Series 2 had the best balance.

Jack Black and Doc Brown!

It's also always nice to see a corner of the galaxy that isn't a muddy backwater. I've enjoyed all the Bryce Dallas Howard directed episodes except for the very first one she did during S1.

Loved Mando's droid bias bubbling up again. This one definitely had the feel of a police procedural for a good part of it, complete with good cop / bad cop.
