pReview'd raised a compelling argument: Din wants to raise Grogu as a Mandalorian - in The Way - and he feels he can't do that as long as he is an apostate. Far as he's concerned, the Children of the Watch are the true Mandalorians, and seeing Bo alone and defeated will only reinforce that in his mind. They won't have him back until he's redeemed himself, and leaving Grogu with them won't work any more than it did with Luke. It's both or nothing.

You just reminded me... so do the Children of the Watch not care about the Dark Saber? If Mando ever brought it out, would it change any minds?

Unless he's somehow mastered it since the Armorer and Paz Vizsla saw him last, hell no. "See? Even your weapon thinks you're not worthy."

I think by the end of the season, he won't care as much about "THE way", and will have started to find "HIS way", probably starting with taking off the damn helmet from time to time.

Yeah, that's where I'm hoping the story goes.

Can I ask a quick question, and something I'm sure has been asked a million times already, but do we know how often it is actually Pedro Pascal in the suit?

Since season 2, pretty much the whole time outside of stunts. During the first season there were times when he couldn't make it to the set due to scheduling issues. In fact, I think there's one whole episode where Pascal was basically just a voice actor.

I did think there should have been another twenty minutes for something to happen, but I enjoyed the episode for the most part. It took me a moment to realize that Grogu was spinning the chair with "The Force."

I loved the purrgil or purrgil-like creature. It makes me wonder whether they are setting up dealing with Thrawn this season here in Mando, or if it's just a hint of Ahsoka episodes to come.

Anyone feel like the episode, while entertaining, was nothing special? It's like like Andor spoiled me.

I feel more or less that way about everything after the purrgil.

I definitely thought they'd be heading right to Mandalore. But then it was like, "Nevarro again? Really?" It seems like the show kind of went out of its way to waste time at that point.

And then when they said he needed to find a part for the droid I was like "oh no no no no...."

Why do some folk genuinely expect everything they watch to be the most amazing thing they’ve ever seen or witnessed? And then when it’s not start crying about it. I just don’t understand this world of “fans” now.

It was only the first episode It’s like the first 15 minutes of a movie. To the person who mentioned Andor, was the first episode alone particularly that mind blowing?
That ep of Mando wasn’t anything more than I expected it to be- little reintroduction, basic early plot strands, look forward to next week. Anyone expecting more I just assume must be about 8 years old and don’t really understand how long story arc TV works..

I mean we really are living in the world from Idiocracy now.

^ Well exactly. That’s probably why they do that when they release more than one for the first week. I remember Kenobi and Hawkeye both put out two episodes the first week for example.
Probably because they know impatient assholes will judge the entire thing on the first 30 minutes.

IIRC the original plan was to release only the first 2 episodes of Andor, but then they delayed it and gave us 3 instead.

I don't know if the third episode was to make up for the delay or just a coincidence.

The first 3 feel like they belong together as a block, because of the flashbacks.

Right around the time season 1 ended some regular cable tv channels started showing the first 2 episodes together and they felt incomplete.

As far as the general topic of serialized story arcs goes, I understand the concept just fine. But I also remember how shows like Mad Men did it extremely well, with each episode telling a strong and compelling story in its own right rather than just being an incomplete piece of something bigger. A lot of shows don't strike this balance very well. The Mandalorian did great at this in the first two seasons, so hopefully that will continue with season 3. The opening episode just fell a little flat for me compared to the season 1 and season 2 openers. I really hope season 3 won't be going the hyper-serialized route like something on the CW.

I have to be honest. I don't have any strong memories of the Season One premiere, other than Din discovering Grogu. The Season Two premiere was entertaining, but not exactly a favorite of mine. And I think the Season Three premiere did a better job of setting up the season's arc than the second season. But it was just okay yet entertaining to me. Like the Season Two premiere.

Yeah, I don't get it either. I don't recall the first episodes of the other seasons being particularly mind blowing, either. And frankly, I was less than impressed by the premiere episode of "Andor".

I thought the episode was great. Perfect example of why it's the best Star Wars around. Andor is good and well acted and brings a unique experience to Star Wars but this show is just so much more fun to watch. Grogu is just so adorable and the show and Mando fought a giant Alligator, a droid that might as well been a Terminator and a bunch of pirates in a spaceship fight inside a asteroid field and even let junior sit in his lap while flying his space ship like a good dad.

I really didn't have a problem with the episode, it was just set up, but that's all most premieres are, so I don't see it as a problem. And it's also worth remembering that it was only around half an hour, so there really wasn't a lot of time for too much to happen.
I will admit that I do find it a bit odd that they tend to the keep their episodes so short, when a lot other streaming series go in the other direction, and have their go right up to, or even go longer than an hour.
