The Love For Season 1 And Season 2 !!

Nero's Shadow

Captain
I've just recently purchased the teaser Blu ray disc of STTNG HD... And I have been watching season one and two on DVD and must admit that I love watching the first two seasons.

I think that there were many changes and new things in the 1st season I liked how they never had a chief engineer looking after the most advanced engine room in starfleet, worfs shows how much he's a Klingon by shouting and wanting to shoot everything. And then there's data he's such a android in that 1st season. I think most of the cast were just trying there best to get into there characters in the 1st season.

Some of the story's in the 1st season were good as well but we also had some stickers like haven. But overall the storys were good, introducing the romulans were back and Q causing problems for there crimes against humanity. I liked also how they tried to make the ferengi as bad guys but overall they never took off as been bad boys of the galaxy.

Overall I still enjoy the 1st and 2nd seasons of TNG now than ever before. For me i think it's because I grew up with TNG had posters plasterd over my walls of my bedroom. I would go down to my local video rental shop and hire out two episodes a week.

In conclusion i still love TNG your thoughts on season 1 and 2 ???

It's not really the concepts of the stories that I have problems with, but mostly the execution. The acting is all over the place, and some of the plotting is absurdly stupid. But the show is still entertaining.

Yeah there's something about those cornier, more gung-ho early episodes that is a lot of fun to watch. It almost feels like you're watching a scifi show from the late-70s at times.

I love every single season of TNG, so yes I think seasons one and two are excellent. The first season in particular has this vibe that I really love; the dynamic lighting, Ron Jones' thematic music, and compared to the later seasons episodes were much more plot-driven. The only episode in season one that I didn't like was Code of Honor, but I thought everything else ranged from average to truly excellent!

I agree, Seasons 1 and 2 are the most fun of the seasons and have high cheese content, but good cheese mostly! Some people will say they are old, dated and 'corny' but what they are witnessing is pure Roddenberry Star Trek and this is how its supposed to be :)

Seasons 1 and 2 of TNG will always have a soft spot in my hearts as I grew up watching them during first-run broadcasting. I also was a huge admirer of Tasha Yar, so Season 1 was especially easy for me to stomach.

Seasons 1-4 are my favorite of the series. There was a real sense of adventure, especially in the first two. The episodes were more plot driven and more often followed the mandate of 'Boldly Go...' which has always been my favorite aspect of Star Trek in general. By the later seasons that drive seems to have disapeared and we were given more character pieces and high concept shows. I still enjoyed them, but they certainly don't have the same feel.

I think the series TECHNICALLY reached a quality-high point in season 3/4, but my favourite season of the show is, and always will be... 2.

There are some outstanding episodes in there, and they hadn't quite yet found the formulaic approach they adopted for a lot of shows later in the series.

Seasons 1 and 2 are a bit more "daring" in trying things; sometimes they worked, sometimes they didn't... but the whole atmosphere and tone of the seasons is great because of it.

I noted with interest that almost the entire cast preferred the early seasons as well. I remember an interview with Brent Spiner where he said most of them had a fondness for seasons 1-2 because they were still finding their characters etc.

I'm another one who enjoys all the seasons. Season one is fun and cheesy in a good way, and I liked Yar. Two is similar, though there were fewer episodes that I loved and way more that I disliked than any other season.

I loved the music in the first few seasons. It was missed in the later seasons. Riker was also a far more interesting character. There were standout episodes as well, like The Big Goodbye and Measure of a Man. I'm a sucker for the early seasons though, I think Justice is actually pretty interesting.

Another one who doesn't get all the flak thrown at S1 and S2. TNG started out a shakey but it really came together pretty quickly. Some production items I'm not big on are the early uniforms, the early bridge (like those conn/ops "recliner" chairs), and the music was interesting but was a bit jarring in spots. But overall I consider those nitpicks.

Justice really isn't that bad of an episode. In fact, I kind of like it actually. The Edo are an interesting race and society because they live in what appears to be perfect harmony with nature and with each other. The irony is that in order to maintain such a perfect paradise it takes capital punishment for even the slightest offenses.
As for the "moral dilemma" of Justice, I think it's kind of absurd. Picard shouldn't have even had to consider whether or not it was right or wrong to save Wesley. Wesley is a member of his crew, and Wesley's "crime" was a complete accident. No one was harmed in any way.
Despite my qualms with Justice, I think it's a fairly solid episode. The premise is interesting, and it has some really good and funny moments.
Out of 10 stars I'd probably give it a 5, so about average. I'm looking forward to rewatching it when TNG comes to blu ray later this year.
