I like all three, but Disaster is the best. Rascals gets a lot of stick, but I enjoy it.

Disaster, it was a real ensemble storyline where everybody had something to do and it was something of a turning point for Troi's character.

I really don't like The Loss at all, but the other two are great fun. Have to go with Disaster though, a real highlight of Season Five. :techman:

There's so much to love about Disaster (though I cringe at Picard's broken ankle... I rub my own ankles whenever I see him hobble in this episode!), but above all else, I loved how this episode was basically an excuse to have the cast interact with people they normally wouldn't. Such a genius way to start off a character-driven episode.

And with that, the least satisfying parts were probably the LaForge/Crusher and Riker/Data pairings b/c we've seen them all interact before. But it's still fun and that's not a major problem at all in this episode.

I really liked Disaster. I generally like Troi episodes, and she had an excellent outing here. It had various ongoing storylines with atypical pairings...Troi & Ro, Geordi & Crusher.

I have to say I never watched Rascals after watching it the first time. One of my least favorite Trek episodes.

I liked the Loss (probably because of Troi & Riker) okay.

Disaster.

Keiko: "I'm going into labor!"
Worf: "You cannot. This is not a good time!"

I voted for Disaster, a genuinely great episode. All the storylines work, and several are awesome (the Crusher/LaForge one the weakest; the Worf one the best). Some of Worf's best material, as well as classic images like Riker removing Data's head and carrying it with him. And the Troi/Ro/O'Brien drama on the bridge was superb dramatic material.

Rascals is a favourite of mine, too. It's a brilliant humour episode, taking an unapologetically silly concept and playing it for all its worth, and actually getting some heartfelt moments (the interaction between Guinan and Ro that actually says something about Ro's character, the believable awkwardness in the O'Brien household). And it has some surprisingly fantastic child actors.

The Loss is mostly just Troi whining.

Rascals is a cute episode, but come on... Disaster has Worf delivering a baby, Picard handling children, and Riker carrying Data's head around Engineering! So I had to go with that one! :)

'Disaster.' Easily.

'Rascals' was fun, but required Our Heroes to seem unnecessarily stupid. 'The Loss' was almost a complete character assassination of Troi.

Wot? I think The Loss was brilliant character growth for Troi. Yes she acted unprofessionally in a way, but that was the point, wasn't it. :)

My only beef with it is that either Ro or O'Brien should've taken command on the bridge since Troi was obviously an incompetent ninny.
Ro would have seperated the saucer section and let the secondary hull blow up, you should be glad the "incompetent ninny" was in charge and decided to wait.

Who was in the saucer and who was in the hull? Who would we have lost? I can't recall.

For me the whole point of Troi being in command was to put Troi in command. It would have kind of defeated the object to have Ro or O'Brien take over.

Personally, I think that was the wiser tactical decision from what little information the three of them had. And O'Brien agreed with Troi, so they could've given him more influence since he obviously knows more than Troi and has both engineering and tactical experience.

EDIT: Personally, I wouldn't want someone who had no idea that "containment breach equals we all go bye-bye" deciding the fates of the rest of the ship.

Three TNG episodes - which one of these did you enjoy the most?

The options:

- The Loss
- Disaster
- Rascals

Why these? Just because they happen to be my personal favs. :p

none of them are all that great, but i went with "the loss," if only for the absence of adorable moppet-children...
