Then I really think you would enjoy the the first couple years with Tom Baker. During that time Philip Hinchcliffe was the producer and his tenure is often referred to as the "gothic" period for the show. "Pyramids of Mars" was made during that period, "Genesis of the Daleks", "The Brain of Morbius" (an homage to "Frankenstein"), "Terror of the Zygons" (alien shapeshifters along with the Loch Ness Monster), "Image of the Fendahl" (Lovercraftian elements), "Seeds of Doom" (a nod to both "The Thing" for the first two episodes, and then a wink to "Day of the Triffids" for the remaining 4). the list goes on.
I really enjoyed it, yes it was all set up but it was well done and I'm sure some of the things introduced here will pay off in the next episode.
It's been an odd series, generally I've enjoyed the individual episodes but it hasn't hung together as a series that well. It does feel like they got the order wrong.

Its funny because I got the Doctor Who: William Hartnell Season 2 Blu Ray a few weeks ago and have been working my way through it, and I'm currently watching The Web Planet (I'm two episodes in). I'd be up for more Zarbi, assuming they cut back on the obnoxious noises used in the original story.

For a little bit, I was hoping it was Omega returning, but I'll take Sutekh. He was a memorable one-time evil villain from the greatest Doctor's era.
Is 14's TARDIS unaffected? Are there two Sutekhs now?
The Toymaker and his cadre and Sutekh are all connected in some way. Sorta like a DW version of The Brotherhood Of Evil Mutants.

The light of the White Guardian washed over the TARDIS and blew open the doors of... Youtube unavailable, but the god of all that was good gave the situation a once over and found nothing hairy, so maybe Sutek has only been latched onto the ship since the Church on Ruby Road, which is after Tenant got his divorce settlement.
In the 90s, Pyramids of Mars was 1 dollar for 7 days on VHS from the nearest Blockbuster.

Those are t my thing, but would second your recommendation on them in this case, and throw in most of seasons 25 and 26. Ghost Light, Curse of Fenric, Greatest Show…

(Credit where it’s due, they do a nice remix of them and it works, but there is so much of the later wilderness years in New Who, and a lot of that rests on stuff that Miles wrote because he was a prime mover in a lot of the arcs.)
Re-watched Pyramids of Mars today - So Good! Definitely gave me some food for thought as to 1) how Sutekh isn't dead, 2) how he came back, and 3) how this might shake out.
One of Sutekh's children in the original Egyptian mythology was a crocodile god named Maga. I'll leave that there without flushing... 
I believe he's still a noun, just like everyone else? Do you or anyone have a link to his reviews site? Might be fun to read. Many the reaction/reviews available are all videos and about 80% of those are rubbish.

Just saw RTD say that the New Tales from the TARDIS is going to be a new edit woth new effects.
Slightly annoying as I just re-watched Pyramids yesterday so i'll be watching again on Thursday.
I thought Bonnie Langford was great in this, I wasn't a massive fan when she was with 6 but I really like this new, more mature characterisation of Mel.
Fingers crossed part 2 sticks the landing.

Ah, that's good to see. Thank you for sharing that video. I meant to go back and rewatch that scene with close captioning but just hadn't had the time.
I thought I heard the Trickster but I completely missed the Mara (brave heart, Tegan!)! I'm not sure if they're right about the rest of the pairings, including Reprobate as the Beast seen in "The Impossible Planet"/"Satan Pit" (but would make sense considering the Woolf connection), but I do like the idea that "the threefold deity of malice and mischief and misery" is/are the Gods of Ragnarok from The Greatest Show in the Galaxy.
It's been years since I've watched any Third Doctor stories so I'm not sure which serial his clip is from and whether or not that particular connection feels right. Nor am I sure about the pairings with "gods of skin and shame and secrets" but I do like the notion that The Destroyer from Battlefield (the final Brigadier adventure, no less!) would be included.
Hopefully the Tales of the TARDIS episode will bring much clarity for this whole list.
Either way, I'm thrilled to know that I was right about the Pantheon indeed being the Pantheon of Discord (even if the name itself still hasn't been said) considering the inclusion of the Trickster.
Edited to add: Upon rewatch of that scene, I had forgotten that Susan Triad mentioned she dreams of "a world with orange skies." Considering Sutekh has his eyes set on Earth right now and Gallifrey is (at the moment...) destroyed, that is indeed a curious line to include.
Edited again to add: Considering all of the big name checks, it's surprising Fenric wasn't among them! Especially considering Big Finish's Seventh Doctor trilogy that focused on him, concluding with Gods and Monsters.
