The least disliked episode of VOY - Season Seven

BlueStuff

Rear Admiral
Rear Admiral
This is a game that we play every few years, and it's generally a lot of fun, providing a chance to mentally revisit those episodes you may not have thought about in a while. With that in mind, why not play again?

So, here's the game. The basic idea is your standard elimination game. I'll provide a list of the episodes for each season and you need to eliminate your least favorite or the one you deem the 'worst.' Please provide an EXPLANATION for why you are eliminating your choice and be sure to copy and paste the list with your choice removed. Finally, please leave at least 2 eliminations by other posters before you eliminate another episode.

No tactical voting! You cannot remove an episode just because you feel they would threaten your preferred episode's chance to win.
Pretty simple. Enjoy! :bolian:

"Unimatrix Zero II" Do I even need to explain this one? The whole "we'll just get assimilated, no biggie!" thing, ugh.

I'll go right to the other end of the season and take out Endgame. A finale that offers no resolution to the arcs of any of the characters (except maybe Paris and Torres if we're being generous), and has the Federation's deadliest enemy completely destroyed as an afterthought.

I appreciate they brought John de Lancie for a final episode, but Q2 is cringeworthy. Q's son is not very strong in the role, and the whole episode is full of silliness trying to pass as humour.

"INSIDE MAN" is killed. The Ferengi on VOYAGER... again? Terrible. Just... terrible.

Natural Law for the forced Chakotay + Seven of Nine romance that came out of nowhere. I really didn't get their chemistry.

I am still FURIOUS over the treatment of Joe Carey in "Friendship One." They remember this poor guy is alive... just in time to grossly kill him off.. which Janeway doesn't give a shit about, since she ultimately sends her temporal rescue mission back to... the following month.

I like picturing the scene where Carey's family finds Janeway and confronts her over why her alternate-self didn't think the life of their husband & father was worth saving.

Removing Author, Author.

Star Trek didn't need another AI rights episode. The one positive of the episode is Neelix's reaction to the holonovel and how he's the only one not angry about how he's portrayed. But the AI rights angle was not needed.

Human Error; like Alliances, it’s one of those episodes that’s guilty of signposting what the series should be doing, but isn’t bothering to.

Removing "Drive"... Immemorable carrace in space... urgh.

Harry Kim is awful in Nightingale, and highlights exactly why he should never be a captain.

"Repression" doesn't do it for me. This is a great demonstration of how thoroughly they flubbed the whole Maquis thing. On the rare occasion when that did get used, they would strongly tether the plot to the actual events in the AQ. And who would care to fight about that distant conflict anymore, given that it's about ownership of a region of space that presumably none of them will live to see again? They really missed the boat when they didn't allow the Maquis characters to just have fundamentally different values from the Starfleet characters, in an ongoing way. That's your story engine, not this or that complicated plot gimmick of something that happened back in the AQ now improbably resurfacing to cause trouble in the DQ.

Renaissance Man, which is really underwhelming for the penultimate episode of the series. TNG brought back a recurring character one last time to give closure to her story arc, DS9 set the stage for the final battle, ENT gave us a message of unity along with a note of hope that Trip and T'Pol might have a future after all... and Voyager just gives us a standard-issue Doctor story that you could have slotted in anywhere after he got the mobile emitter.

"WORKFORCE" didn't... work for me. So it goes. (I realized the pun only after I started writing it.)

Removing Shattered. This episode came at a time that time travel was well overused and came off as a nostalgia trip.

"WORKFORCE, PART II" does not... work for me. (Yes, I used the same pun. If it isn't broke...)

To be more specific, I feel this two-parter was a waste for the season.

Homestead, while it was a good episode and a good exit for Neelix I can't get over how much of a conincidence it was that they just happened to run into Talaxians tens of thousands of lightyears away from Talax.

"The Void" is too rushed to satisfy. "Workforce" is such a bizarre waste of a two-parter, that wisp of a concept did not need such length -- if they wanted to do another two-parter, WHY did they not use "The Void" story for that? It needs more space! And "Void" and "Workforce" are consecutive! Someone on staff should have figured that out.

Prophecy is a bit dry. Klingons showing up in the Delta Quadrant is a bit of a stretch anyway, but then they were such boorish idiots. Not got storytelling.
