The least disliked episode of TOS - Season One

This is a game that we play every few years or so, and it's generally a lot of fun, providing a chance to mentally revisit those episodes you may not have thought about in a while. With that in mind, why not play again?

So, here's the game. The basic idea is your standard elimination game. I'll provide a list of the episodes for each season and you need to eliminate your least favorite or the one you deem the 'worst.' Please provide an EXPLANATION for why you are eliminating your choice and be sure to copy and paste the list with your choice removed. Finally, leave at least 2 eliminations by other posters before you eliminate another episode.

No tactical voting! You cannot remove an episode because you feel they would threaten your preferred episode's chance to win. Pretty simple. Enjoy!

I'll start us off by kicking out The Alternative Factor. It's just an interminably long 50 minutes of utter nonsense. Scene after scene of incoherent technological hogwash being vomited every few seconds. The trippy cosmic wrestling sequences that are supposed to represent the two Lazaruses clashing are an assault on the senses.

I'll go with Charlie X, as I generally skip over this episode. I find Charlie annoying, and I cringe at the way he treats people. Plus, I don't like those pink exercise suits.

The Squire of Gothos for me. I always found it rather silly for the same reasons that I was never a huge fan of Q other than for comic relief.

Shore Leave, The big fake rabbit annoys me much more than say the Gorn or Mugatu. Don't know why. Otherwise I really like this episode.

Some of the "least favorite" ones I would choose were already spoken for, so from the remaining list I choose "Tomorrow Is Yesterday." I love the time travel part, but there are just too many inconsistencies. How do you beam a body back so that the memory is gone? (Maybe that's been answered?)

I'm going, with regret, to take out The Conscience of the King. It starts with an appealing mystery and it's a Kirk Ep very, very well-acted by Shatner, and the idea of Kodos was fantastic (as was the actor), but somewhere they just run out of plot. Lenore's revelation as a crazed loon just didn't work for me. I did like the Leightons, the phaser on overload, and the Kodos-Kirk confrontation (great dialogue).

Starting to get tough now, but I'm going to have to take out This Side of Paradise. It was nice to let Nimoy do something different with Spock, but compared to the remaining episodes, it feels very slight and inconsequential.
