Well, the concept was "least hated" rather than "best". Any kind of way of finding "best" among fans would undoubtedly have returned one of the usuals. To many, City on the Edge of Forever is a favourite. However, really is amongst my most hated. I love The Trouble With Tribbles, but I know a lot think it too silly.I mean, there are some obvious limitations with the system (but it was thoroughly enjoyable; thanks, BlackStuff), but seriously. The quality of these three (and BOT) relative to one another is not even close. And City eliminated that easily? Who knew?
I think this particular form of elimination, by design, probably ought to leave a mediocre episode rather than a favourite when people are following the "no tactical voting" rule.
I find it interesting that it came down to two episodes featuring Mark Lenard though... perhaps the TNG one will end with Sarek and Unification
