The least disliked episode of TOS - Final Part

First I was going to vote for the one without Mark Lenard... Balance of Terror gets my vote, it drags on occasionally, and has some poor science and conceits.

Balance of Terror - 1
Journey to Babel - 0

I'm going to have to give the point to Babel. My reasoning is shaky, love both, just love BoT slightly more for personal reasons.

Balance of Terror - 1
Journey to Babel - 1

I’ll vote for Journey to Babel; Balance of Terror is my favorite episode of TOS.

Balance of Terror - 1
Journey to Babel - 2

Balance gets a point from me for "simple impulse", the Enterprise doing a Wile E Coyote in a straight line from the incoming plasma bolt, and plaster falling from the Romulan ship ceiling... and mostly for being lovingly ripped off from The Enemy Below. I can still read the serial numbers even after the light filing.

Balance of Terror - 2
Journey to Babel - 2

Lots of aliens, a family dispute, and a mom from TV history vs. a remake of a submarine movie. No contest. And I believe that does it.

Balance of Terror - 4
Journey to Babel - 2

I really thought Mirror, Mirrorr or Tholian Web would beat Journey to Boring, but.....

I mean, there are some obvious limitations with the system (but it was thoroughly enjoyable; thanks, BlackStuff), but seriously. The quality of these three (and BOT) relative to one another is not even close. And City eliminated that easily? Who knew?

Someone posted earlier that he didn't like City because it was a tear jerker. Poor Kirk just can't keep a full time love interest, even on Trek BBS.

Thanks for playing, everyone. A surprise winner this time around. Join me on the TNG boards to play again, if you'd like. :bolian:

Don't get me wrong, I enjoy BOT a lot, but how they didn't get sued baffles me, so many of the story beats are right out of The Enemy Below. It's worse than even "The Trouble With Flat-Cats".

I guess Paul Schneider realized he couldn' mirror the whole Enemy Below script, since at the end of the movie the US Navy captain saves the German U-Boat captain.

I can't believe that someone eliminated The Doomsday Machine!!! JB
