The Least Disliked Episode of TNG - Season Three

i'll remove Booby Trap now. It's a pretty good episode with an excellent score, but I like the others more.

Ensigns of Command
The Enemy
The Defector
The Hunted
Deja Q
Yesterday's Enterprise
Sins of the Father
Allegiance
Tin Man
The Most Toys
Sarek
The Best of Both Worlds I

Yesterday's Enterprise
Sins of the Father
Allegiance

Sarek
The Best of Both Worlds I

"Tin Man" gets some oil to move away from that list. Tam Elbrun is too much of an a..hole for me to care about what happens to him. That guy would get the Dalai Lama to tear his arms off after ten minutes in his company.

Gonna take out The Most Toys. It all feels kind of by-the-numbers, both Geordi's investigation on the ship and Data's captivity. It's serviceable filler but there are much better episodes still on that list.

"Allegiance" is kidnapped from this list. Not a bad episode, but I much prefer the other remaining ones on this list.

I'm going to get rid of "The Survivors" During original air, I generally found the trope of Troi being attacked via telepathy to lead to exciting, involving stories. But now... ugh, it all just feels so rape-y. (It was her mind rape in "Nemesis" that really hung a lantern on it, that one was so gross and tawdry)

Plus, the guys on the Greatest Generation pod have a running joke (still running now, years after they did this episode) about how Kevin's relationship to Rishon is that of a man to his RealDoll. They're not wrong!

So that kind of takes the air out of the ep for me. When I was a kid, this was a dreamily romantic story involving mysterious alien powers. Now, all I see is a cheap use of rape tropes to sell a story about an old man jacking off into his sex doll.

I actually really like "The Survivors" for a reason that is almost always overlooked.

I thought it was a great showcase of Picard's detective skills. He pieced together everything that was going on and kept it pretty close to the chest until the end. I felt this episode was a great example of why he deserved to sit in the captain's chair.

"The Enemy" is too much of a rip off of "Enemy Mine" for it to be a coincidence. It's not a bad adaptation but it would have been better if it were original. (they did it again on DS9 (with Quark and Odo alone on a planet and on Ent with Trip and some lizard-like alien, which was the most rip-offish of the three)

Each time: Two people who can't stand each other alone on a planet where they must cooperate in order to survive, in the end, they gain a (greater) appreciation for each other.

That's why "Waltz" doesn't count. It's just Dukat torturing Sisko and in the end, Sisko hates him more than ever.

The Ensigns of Command has some wonderfully fun scenes with Picard going full diplomat with the Sheliak. However, the Data portion of the episode, whilst good, doesn't match up to the episodes that are left.

"The Hunted" is good but IMO it doesn't measure up to any of the last six.

I didn't realise it was into the final episodes, I would have done that myself. Oops! :bolian:

Gasp, we're down to what are all really good episodes. I'm going to toss out Deja Q. It's a great episode as all Q episodes are, but I'm removing it just because I really find the second Q guy a bit annoying and the acting is over the top.

Now we're down to the nitty gritty ;)

The Defector
Yesterday's Enterprise
Sins of the Father
The Best of Both Worlds I

I will get rid of "Sarek"... I'd rewatch the other 4 first.

"The Defector", because I guessed how it would end.

I'll take out The Best of Both Worlds Part 1. Excellent episode, of course, but it's only one half of a story and I always felt like the solution in BoBW part 2 was a little unsatisfying, even if Family subsequently adds a lot more to both parts.

Yesterday's Enterprise
Sins of the Father

In that case I remove Yesterdays Enterprise, love it but it leads to Sela.

Sins of the Father is the winner.

Yesterday's Enterprise is amazing, and my favourite episode of TNG, so I vote for that to win.

Never mind I somehow missed 2 posts whilst posting mine.

I must say, I am a little disappointed. I was hoping it would be Yesterdays Enterprise, which I find fantastic!

It is fantastic but so is Sins of the Father in my opinion. But it doesn't really matter that much, the runner up is also included in the final round if the rules haven't changed, so Yesterday's Enterprise can still win it all.

"Yesterday's Enterprise" is absolutely my favorite TNG ep. I've recently rediscovered "Sins Of The Father", though, and found I quite like that one as well -- this is the beginning for the Klingon story that will run through the end of DS9, and on the whole I think that's a really satisfying chunk of storytelling.

Oh I agree, Sins of the Father is really good as well. As is BOBW. Season 3 is one of my favourites.
