The least disliked episode of the franchise - Final Showdown

Oh definitely. I watch Enterprise and loved it, even early on. Although it's technically more ambitious in some departments, it's often pretty static. A few tracking shots and pans, but rarely hand-held camera unless it's a full on action sequence or a scene deliberately marked out as unusual. Throwing weird framing movements into each shot - quite a lot of other TV shows seem to use on practically everything to suggest immediacy and edgyiness, when all they're shooting is two people talking. Star Trek does that and they're seated around a table. Or looking up from a console and directing their dialogue at another character, also remaining perfectly still across the room. Everything else on TV has this nervous twitch thing going on, by comparison. I find there's a fine line between giving something energy and making everybody seem hyperactive... I suppose it reflects what life is like right now. Everybody being impatient and nothing happening fast enough.

Winner: United.
Wild Card: In the Pale Moonlight.
Wild Card: The Best of Both Worlds (I).

Wow, United won? Who would've predicted that? Big shocker! But, as DevilEyes rightly says, this is indeed the least disliked episode after all (since I changed the name 90% of the way through ;)). Still, I was so sure from the beginning that In the Pale Moonlight would take the crown.

This has been a great ride, and I'd like to thank everyone for playing. Pretty much just from this game, my ranking has risen from Cadet to Lieutenant Commander.

HOWEVER! The fun isn't over....

Wow! Enterprise for the win. Way to go Manny Coto. I think had Enterprise gone into a fith it would have just gotten better and we'd be discussing how good a series it turned out to be than the usual crap we hear about it.

I've seen the same thing said about Enterprise. TOS always wrapped a morality play into one episode. Some people prefer that. DS9 had some long arcs. Enterprise season 3 was one long arc and season 4 had a lot of 2 and part arcs. I enjoy them. Not everyone does.

Enterprise's third season was my favourite of that show. The last third just went on an amazing consistent run of excellent episodes, and was something to rival DS9. I just find it strange that I find the third season my favourite, even though the general premise of the arc wasn't very prequal-y.

The fourth season was on the whole, well done. I liked the break up in structure of the season; it wasn't something I'd really experienced in a TV show before. A lot of themes were excellent, but even though the season was more prequal-y than season three, some of the stories were dull. I thought the Augments arc ran an episode too long, and thought that the Klingon episodes were pointless, for example. There are other problems I have too, but I won't ramble too much more!

I really enjoyed the direction the last two seasons took, as the first two were meandering. As a whole, the show doesn't beat TOS/TNG/DS9, but it has a damn good stab.

I loved how creative the production of a standard episode became, again particularly in the last two seasons. It really shook off the image of the safe storytelling mode that had been prevalent for a few years by this point.
