The least disliked episode of DS9 - Season One

I would never have eliminated Duet, but I kinda get what he's saying about the ending. The murder in plain sight at the end broke the balance and gave the episode a preachy tone. "He's Cardassian. That's enough." "No! It's not!" That final scene de-nuanced the entire episode.

Still I would say it's either best of the first season or one of the few best.

I'm going to boot out Dramatis Personae. It's basically TNGs Power Play but with DS9 characters in the first season before we really knew them well

Emissary
Captive Pursuit
The Nagus
Battle Lines
Progress
Duet
In the Hands of the Prophets

Not sure what putting Duet back in will accomplish. Surely Emissary will win anyway.

Sad to see Dramatis Personnae go. That episode is all kinds of fun.

Episodes shouldn't be added in if we disagree. That defeats the purpose. I was joking about a revote. But since it is back, I'll remove it again.

Emissary
Captive Pursuit
The Nagus
Battle Lines
Progress
In the Hands of the Prophets

Yeah, adding episodes back just opens a huge can of worms. :p

It's not like people haven't wanted to do that before.

I vote for The Nagus. As much as I love Wallace Shawn, I didn't much like the Nagus (especially in later episodes). This episode wasn't terrible, but it's easily the worst of the bunch, although I'm not a big fan of Progress either.

Captive Pursuit
Battle Lines
Progress
In the Hands of the Prophets

Well it is obvious "Duet" should have won this it is clearly the best episode of S1, one of the best of the first two seasons and definatly in the top half of all Trek episodes.

But it's time for "Battle Lines" to go. Out of what's left it's one of my least favourite episodes.

Captive Pursuit
Progress
In the Hands of the Prophets

A cop out in what way?

The guy turned good then got stabbed.

I would disagree about the ending being a cop out. At the start of the episode Kira was out for blood as well. Just as in many wars throught history not everyone on the other side was bad. That was what in part the episode was about. It took in part a realtive innocnet being stabbed for Kira to realise this.

This is getting tough now, some goodies left in there. I will remove Progess. It's a good solid episode, with some great development of Kira and Bajor, but compared to the others it is a little weaker--only a little mind you.

Emissary
Captive Pursuit
In the Hands of the Prophets

I'll eliminate Captive Pursuit. Good episode, but honestly I'm not sure how it lasted this far with the competition.

Emissary
In the Hands of the Prophets

I'm eliminating In the Hands of the Prophets, because Emissary is so much more powerful as an episode.

Emissary wins

Incidentally, the same winner as the last time this was played on the DS9 board. That's right, Duet was knocked out early then as well. (Just not THIS early ;))

Awesome! IMO, Emissary is one of the best episodes in all of Trek. It's definitely better than the other premieres. Sisko's character arc in this episode alone makes it compelling.

It makes sense than the premiere and finale are the last episodes standing. There was a lot of filler in season 1 as they tried to figure out where to take the show. By the time they got to Dramatis Personae, they went on a hot streak.

I'll take out duet because I thought the ending was a cop out.

Emissary
Past Prologue
Babel
Captive Pursuit
Dax
The Passenger
The Nagus
Vortex
Battle Lines
The Storyteller
Progress
The Forsaken
Dramatis Personae
In the Hands of the Prophets
:cardie:

You think that Duet is a worse episode than all those on that list?

Really?

Really?

And how the heck was it a "cop-out"?
