The Least Disliked Episode 2025 - VOY Final Rounds

BlueStuff

Rear Admiral
Rear Admiral
Here we have the winners and runners-up of each season - and now, it's time for the final rounds.

*RULES*

Give what you consider to be the worst/your least favourite episode ONE point, and briefly explain WHY. Be sure to copy and paste the list with your point added. When an episode reaches 4 points, it is eliminated. Then a NEW round begins (in this thread) with the numbers restored to 0. Vote ONCE per round. If 48 hours without a vote passes, the episode currently leading in points will be eliminated, and a new round will begin. And enjoy! :bolian:

A strong list. (Well, it should be one, right? :))

My first vote is for "RELATIVITY".

This was a headache inducing episode. While it was great to see Seven finally in a uniform, time travel is just so overdone in the franchise. Especially VOYAGER.

So until this episode gets the axe, I'm going to keep voting for it.

Oh dip this is a strong list. I think Imperfection gets my first vote. Infinite Regress is a better Seven malfunctions episode. I do wonder if they would risk direct exposure to deadly enemies to save the life of anyone else on the ship, Seven is an amazing character but she sometimes gets more special treatment than suspension of disbelief allows.

A good strong list here.

Jeri Ryan is good, but Infinite Regress just doesn't grab me like the others.

I wish I could hop on one of these, but I think I have to go with "The Thaw" to start with. It's good, but parts of it are so shrill in a way I don't like to listen to.

Infinite Regress, Jeri Ryan is good but I'm just not fond of having an actor play a bunch of random characters for reasons. TNG did it with Masks and I didn't like that one either, I don't care for any of these personas, it's more like a filmed acting exercise than an interesting story.

Yeah.

Also, as someone who actually liked VOY before Seven showed up, I'll point out "Relativity" is one of many Seven-centric episodes -- and not the best.

Infinite Regress for reasons previously stated.
(P.S. Relativity is one of my guilty favorites for Janeway's epic eye roll so I cannot in good conscience let it go.)

Another vote for Infinite Regress, and it's history. It's good, but most of these others are great.

Round 2

Pathfinder gets a point from me. Not sure if we really needed an Alpha Quadrant holodeck Barclay episode in VOY. Although I did like the cameos it does detract from our normal cast.

Worst Case Scenario is a fun romp, but it'ss yet another holodeck-gone-wrong episode, which got a bit stale back in TNG.

One Small Step, I groaned when Voyager just happened to stumble upon an artifact from earth ... again. And of course one or more main characters are experts for exactly that specific thing from this specific time period, they always are. The could find an ancient greek statue and someone would announce they've always been fascinated with greek mythology and art and that this is clearly a depiction of Athena and matches statues from the temple of whatever.
And the story that comes from this has been done before, the setup isn't even interesting, they find some shit, get themselves in trouble and don't die which was a foregone conclusion. They find out Lt. Kelly was super sciency and exploratory and did exactly that until the end, okay, who cares? Not me and I don't need the lesson that humans can be like that on Star Trek where most of the characters are exactly like that.

I'll chime in on "Worst Case Scenario" because the "they have to be in real danger" of Part 2 kind of ruined what was actually turning out as a fun no-pressure episode, the way those stupid Ferengi similarly ruined "Peak Performance".

It was an above average VOY episode. But in its first half, we saw the potential to be better still.

I'm going with One Small Step. It was a wasted opportunity.

I was thinking recently how I couldn't really remember it, for such an interesting premise. I started to rewatch it, paused it to do something else and then never resumed it. Even after all these years it couldn't hold my interest for a rewatch. Mostly because it's just messing about with science junk as they often do. Putting aside the completely absurd chances of the encounter.

I suspect it's still here the list not because it's good, but because it's entirely forgettable.

I also think (but can't remember, as I didn't complete my rewatch) that Seven gets all maudlin at the end and it didn't fit the situation.

I'm going to change up my vote this time and go for The Thaw. It was a worthy winner for its season but there are other and better creepy Voy episodes (Revulsion for example) and while it is a good Harry episode it serves as a reminder of how the character was mishandled for all the various reasons behind the scenes. Janeway's monologue at the end is great but you can get Janeway badassery in many places.

"Pathfinder" isn't really about Voyager's characters, but rather Next Gen's.
